Kents Cavern is by far Britain's most important prehistoric cave used by ancient humans for the last 500,000 years including Neanderthals and early modern humans.

The caves are open every day for guide tours, 7 days a week with natural caverns, amazing natural formations, remains of mammoth, woolly rhino, sabre-toothed cats, an Ice Age woodland trail quest, nice shop and cafe with views over the Ilsham Valley.

The closest hotel to the attraction is the Gleneagles, inspiration for TV's Fawlty Towers. We are 2km from Torquay Harbour and only 15 mins walk from the South West Coast Path and local beaches, well-known to previous visitors like Agatha Christie, Beatrix Potter, George V, Alfred Wallace and Charles Darwin.

Perfect for a rainy or sunny day by the seas, winter or summer.

Kents Cavern is the flagship attraction of Torbay's Geo park. Pair this with a trip to the museum just down the road that houses some of the artefacts and you have a great day out. I find natural history fascinating, to think our ancestors were here 600 000 years ago blows your mind! Must see to be believed!

we visited the caverns because the weather was poor outside, but the cavern remains dry and warm whatever the weather. It is the warmest cavern in England so no need to wrap up warm. the tour guide was very knowledgeable and personable I had been down several caverns before and i found this one very informative and interesting. highly recommended

Kent Caverns are very interesting place to visit. The caverns have many different rock formations and are well illuminated. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and amusing. A good collection of finds on display. The cafe, shop and other amenities were of a good standard.

We visited here on Sunday late morning and took the 12.00 tour with Dave the guide. He was very informative and funny. It was a fascinating experience and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. The caverns are full of history and pre history and it is all explained well. There were children in the tour and Dave made sure they were... More

This is a wonderful place to visit. The caverns are facinating, and out guide (David) was brilliant. The caverns are not gimmicky or decked out theme park style, they allow you to see what nature has done (over thousands and thousands of years) and what has been found by those who dug out the caverns. Very enjoyable, very interesting and... More

Tour guide Ollie did a great job fielding the numerous and unpredictable questions of our 4-year-old son.

The tours are at set times so check before you go. Once started the tour is very good with a light-hearted commentary that is packed with historical facts.
