Shelley Theatre is the theatre on the Bournemouth clifftop you probably never knew about. We are a 150 seated theatre and provide a variety of entertainment for all tastes. We have: comedy nights; film; live music; performance and dance. Come and see how we're bringing this historic building to life. The theatre was built in 1870 by the famous Shelley family, intended to be the home of Mary Shelley, author of Frankenstein. Where are today our whole aim is to bring people and performance together. We also have the Shelley Cafe open during the week from Monday to Friday (10am to 3.30pm) so if it's using the Wi-Fi or catching up with friends and family, the doors are open for you. We look forward to seeing your soon.

The team at The Shelley have done a wonderful job restoring the theatre whilst being sympathetic to its rich history. The cafe is lovely and the staff are friendly and helpful. Cant recommend it highly enough.

Lovely little theatre and cafe-bar area. I had no idea what a wonderfully historic place was on our doorstep! We'll definitely return and are looking forward to attending more events in the future here.

Interesting venue run by volunteers. Unusual productions by local artists/theatre groups. The venue is in the process of a slow refurbishment - which adds to its charm. Only downside is expensive drinks for what it is. Theatre also needs a back entrance as the only...More
