Always interesting

The North Lanes have so much to offer. Very bohemian, interesting shops, if you can't find it here, your not looking very well.

Wandering round North Laine's shops, cafes and restaurants is a joy not to be missed and not to be mistaken for The South Lanes (different spelling) either. Both a brilliant experience with different vibes. North Laine is more eclectic, hippyish, quirky, anything goes area and The South Lanes are higglty-pigglty little lanes with lots of jewellery shops, tea rooms. Do... More

North Laine is a must visit place for visitors to Brighton. All the locals love it. A place where you can purchase a quirky or unusual item. Also great places to eat or drink almost anything

A wide variety of all kinds of shops, not far from all of the mainstream shops. Lovely, twisty streets with all kinds of food and lots of vintage shops, lovely cafes and quirky bars. A must-see in Brighton.

Perhaps the shoppers have all retreated to their homes post-Christmas. To be fair, based on reviews and hype about the resurrection of Brighton, I expected more from this precinct. What we found were 'closing down discounts', continuing sales, and very little that was 'different'. Just another shopping area.

Buzzy, colourful, characterful, inclusive, independent and interesting. It's very Brighton and a refreshing alternative to the cookie-cutter city centre malls, chain shops and tourist traps. As locals, we hope it stays that way. The only downside is that it can get horribly crowded with tourists in the summer.

Not to be missed. So many interesting shops and cafes. One of the best shopping streets I've been down. My wife bought a beautiful silver choker at a good price.

The North Laine is like nowhere else in England. There are shops you can't imagine existing anywhere else, coffee shops, restaurants, obscure bookshops, tat shops and pubs. It's colourful, friendly, hectic, seedy and lots of other things, but it's a place that needs to be visited. There are some great music shops, vintage clothes emporiums, jewellers and strange, esoteric shops... More
