The lift is very useful and quaint. It is kept in very good condition and the staff are always very helpful. The only downside is that you can only buy a return ticket and the lift does not run all the year round,I can't remember what time they shut (around 6pm) when I asked one of the workers why this was i... Used to do the same lift in Folkestone when I was younger, this brought back memories. A good experience and saved the stairs. I know for both of us it was under £5, cannot remember exact prices

We have been on this historic lift several times but when we visited in December it was closed. Being funicular, it is one of very few lifts of its type and is worth reading up on.

This is not a must-do experience, but we found this little cliff railway interesting and quaint. The view from the top is nice. Of course, you can also enjoy the trip to the top of the cliffs on foot instead, if you so wish, but the rails gives you a sense of old world technology.

Interesting, fun, exciting, educational ride up the cliffs of Hastings in a pulley tram. Children have been fascinated by this ride for generations and still are. A part of old English tradition as well as being alternative-technology in the modern sense.

Riding the cliff railways was on my 'must do this' list during our visit to Hastings. In these days of modern technology it was great to step back in time and enjoy another era. We were lucky enough to have a ride all to ourselves and the timber carriages were a delight. The view from the top was just great... More

A great experience with the bonus of beautiful views at the top. I recommend walking back down through the little lanes to the high Street.

Soooo.... I've seen them bobbing up and down (or not) over the years but I really think it's worth a visit anyway. Stunning craftsmanship.

Having visited the East Hill Cliff Railway in 2015, I couldn't wait to recommend the same to visitors. Unfortunately it wasn't until September this year when we were celebrating our 40th Wedding anniversary, and had invited friends from all over the country, that we could do so. 4 of our friends travelled from an area of outstanding beauty, bordered by...
