The High street stretches in both sides from the river. Basically an average high street with some nice shops and restaurants. Nothing special. What makes it a bad experience is the army of parking attendants that is overly anxious to catch you on anything they can. I had a hotel parking permit on display but was apparently parking in a... I used to have a stall in Lewes Antques Centre many years ago and love to go to Cliffe whenever we are in Lewes. It was Sunday when we visited this time and it was bustling. Antiques shops, restaurants, brewery and other curiosities. And on Sunday the parking is free.

I've going to Lewes college for two years and the only thing I loved to do during my breaks was to go to the high street and explore all the lovely little independent shops. There is a Superdrug, Boots, New look, WHSmiths as well as a bakery, crumbs if you walk a bit up the hill has amazing baked goods... More

It felt very non High Streety! Lots of local independent clothes shops and cafes and a few chain stores to be found. A great range to browse through, punctuated by the River Ouse. Picturesque and pretty.

Lewes in East Sussex is a small but very attractive and interesting town. The purpose of our visit was to have a browse through the various antiques shops we had heard about and seen on TV. Cliffe High Street had a number of these ranging from a fairly cluttered 'bric-a-brac' type up to really well laid out and attractive shops.... More

Lewes high street has always been quirky and individual, much like the rest of the town. There are some cavernous antique shops which are well with exploring as well as some good outdoors shops (hiking, fishing etc). Recently we have had the addition of a good toy shop in Clarke's, and now a Vape store if you like that sort... More

A small street with some interesting shops and cafes including some fascinating antique shops. Plenty of places to eat including a pub and some cafes and at the river end there is the Riverside building which has a fish and meat stall and some good restaurants as well as the Harvey's brewery shop.

We spent a few hours in the High Street as the coach was not coming back till 4 pm, if you are interested in Antiques and the Brewery it will make your day, we found clothing sports shops and clothing shops a bit of a bore, so I bought a paper to while away the time, a nice old church... More

A great range of shops. Lots of antiques, and non chain eateries. Stunning location. Always makes me feel happy walking around there.
