There are 3 rooms and a garden to explore with plenty to read if you are interested in Henry James or Benson. Various artefacts and illustrations pad out the information. No facilities.

This is why I love being a National Trust member. Without our membership cards we would have likely overlooked this place. But instead we popped in and what a surprise!! It has the most lovely one acre garden! A real (and I’m guessing unique) privilege...More

There is nothing special about Lamb House. Visitors may see three rooms and read a bit about Henry James. But the garden is peace on earth. After the bustle of London, it is so pleasant to sit in the garden and just contemplate. It is...More

As an NT member, I planned my holiday to see as much NT place as I can in the area. Lamb house in Rye was the first. I did not have much expectation, as it does not have car park and I knew from the...More

Although only three rooms are on show as it is a tenanted building, there is a lot of modern social history to be found in these rooms.

The house itself is tenanted and therefore not wholly open to the public - there are three small rooms which you can visit and the garden, which is delightful. The walled garden has plenty of seating and there is a quirky system whereby you can...More

We have visited Rue twice and both times Lamb House was closed. Luckily we found it open. It is well worth a visit for Benson fans and none alike. The garden is a gem. Lucky Rye.

We are great fans of Mapp and Lucia books/dramas by E. F. Benson so have wanted to visit for some time. As we were staying in Rye, before we left, it was finally open on a Tuesday morning. When we were buying our entry tickets,...More

Visited the house and garden but not very impressed. Only 3 rooms are open to the public and the garden - while quite large - is not very nice. There is a line between tumble down old fashioned and simply neglected and tatty which this...More

I didn't see any dogs there. I suspect they aren't permitted (other than support animals) because you have to go through the house to get to the garden.
