The Corinium Museum is located at the heart of Cirencester the 'Capital of the Cotswolds'. Its principal collection consists of the highly significant finds from the Roman town of Corinium. However the museum today is much more than that, taking the visitor on a journey through time and charting the development of the Cotswolds from its prehistoric landscape to the modern day. The light and modern galleries offer the visitor an exceptional interactive experience. The museum is renowned for its learning provision, with an education centre and temporary exhibition space that ensure a vibrant, changing programme of events and activities for everyone to enjoy.

I'm not really into things as far back as the Romans, but we spent a fascinating couple of hours here and can thoroughly recommend it. There's enough detail in the descriptions of exhibits to inform, but not to bore. Just beware of over-enthusiastic volunteer guides who are just a tad too keen!

Museum was recommend to us so off we went for a bit of a cultural input. Just over £5 each to enter but well worth the money. We were taken in great detail on a journey through the ages and times associated with the area and the surrounding towns. The discoveries made are on display and it was good to... More

This is an excellent museum which shows Roman Cirencester's history. Do not waste your time wandering round Cirencester looking for Roman remains they are all underground. The Museum have an excellent audio guide well worth hiring. This Museum is next door to Blackjack street loaded with really good coffee shops and restaurants. You can have a really interesting day here... More

Thank you for taking the time to share this lovely review, we are delighted you enjoyed your visit. As you mention the best place to see Roman aretefacts is in the Museum however there is still part of the Roman wall visible in the Abbey Grounds and the Roman Amphitheatre, which is about a 10 min. walk from the museum.... We enjoyed our visit to the museum. There were many Roman exhibits all displayed well. There was also a very good child friendly area.

During Roman times Cirencester was the second largest city in Britain, and even before the Romans, there as been much evidence uncovered of early peoples and civilizations around these parts. There are many examples in this modern, well organised Museum. The very title museum does not do this place credit, although there are many artefacts, and items of past lives... More

This is a lovely well thought through museum for families with children. From steps to allow young children to see exhibits to toys for toddlers at different sections so you can actually have time to look at the exhibits yourself. The museum is quite small and you can do this in an afternoon but lots of things to do for... More
