About
Sezincote is a unique and extraordinary Indian house set amidst the Cotswold Hills. The architecture is in the Mogul style of Rajasthan, with a central dome, minarets, peacock-tail windows, jali-work railings and pavilions. A curving Orangery frames the Persian Garden of Paradise with its fountain and canals. The house is set within a romantic garden - a fine example of the Picturesque style - with pools, waterfalls, a grotto and a temple to the Hindu Sun God. Sezincote was built in 1810 by Charles Cockerell, who had worked out in India, assisted by his brother, the architect Samuel Pepys Cockerell, and Thomas Daniell, the great painter of Indian architectural scenery.

Run but Quintessential English snobs…
Nov 2021 • Friends
As the owners of the house “this is clearly not a touristic attraction”. We were trying to find the entrance and where to start the tour In the middle of the afternoon. We were then greeted by two angry old man t who shouted at us saying “that we couldn’t be there”. They interrogated us as to where we came in, when we explained that their gates are wide open and there is signs with opening hours, they proceeded to treat us like high schools kids who were misbehaving. Angry man 1 say “this is not Westfield, you can’t just enter” and angry man 2 just snarky comment insinuating that we must have forced our way in. When 3 brown tourists get shouted by 2 middle age white, it makes you feel like maybe this wouldn’t have happened if we were British? 🤔

A ruined afternoon
Nov 2021 • Friends
Was expecting a lovely place with friendly owners like everywhere around in Cotswolds... Unfortunately, while we were just taking a look around (nothing special to see really), we were approached by two old angry men who told us that we were not allowed to be there. When we explained them that we found the place on google maps and it said it’s open on all days, we were given no explanation why it’s not actually open. Then they even made a suggestion that we may have broken trough the gate to make our entry, which was extremely insulting!
We didn’t let this to ruin our evening, however I would recommend to avoid at all costs.

Rude owners that shout at guests
Nov 2021 • Friends
No information on opening times, so we went to visit as this was our first time in Cotswolds and we were very keen on appreciating the architecture. The owners were really rude and even said “This is not Westfield”, shouting at 3 young ladies. This was a very upsetting event and would not recommend at all.

Breathtaking

What a beautiful house. Please do visit it as soon as you can. The outside is exquisite, the gardens landscaped integrally combining height, width, colour and texture of trees, leaves and bar colours. It incorporates water and stone, lakes and rivulets. Whether standing on the bridge looking at the whole picture or sitting on the stone seat underneath, listening to the mumuration of the stream this is an idyllic place to be. If you are lucky enough to obtain a ticket to see inside the house you are in for a treat. Indian colours, designs and textures combine to whisk you on a beautiful carpet to a fairyland thousands of miles away. The attention to detail has been painstaking throughout its varied history, a story of riches to rags and back again to magnificence.
Visit it do, and then go again and again as I surely will.

Stunning home a must see
Sep 2021 • Couples
What a beautiful house and stunning gardens. We booked the 1st house tour of the day at 11.30 till 12.00.

We were asked to be on time so that each tour can start on time, we all had to wear masks, and one lady who did not have one was given one to wear.

The tour started with a talk to give you some information on not only the house, but who has owned it in the past. It is still a family home so you are only able to see a few rooms, to include the most astonishing bedrooms, one which is now used for wedding parties the ball room and a beautiful dinning room. The decor and items in all the rooms are stunning,

Once the tour was finished we wandered around the very well kept gardens, so glad we found this to visit while staying in Evesham. It is very near to the Cotswolds Falconry Centre, so you could combine a visit to both of them.

Treasure find - great house & gardens
Sep 2021 • Friends
Wow, what a cracking little find. A slice of ‘India’ in the Cotswolds. We visited the house and gardens in September 21. The gardens are just divine, tranquil, perfectly manicured and beautiful - a true joy to explore. The house itself was great, our tour guide (Paul) was very informative and made the experience all the better with his enthusiasm. Definitely worth a visit if you’re visiting the Cotswolds.

No box elephants

went here for the day , walked around the gardens on lovely sunny day . Was very disappointed that the topiary elephants had been moved to display in Brighton , that was main reason for going there . Steve and Verne

Pleasant gardens check when open
Sep 2021 • Couples
We were able to just turn up for a garden visit but if you want to also tour the house bookings are needed for the guided tours. The entrance opposite the arboretum is a long narrow drive up to the car park - where there is an alternative entrance. Decent hand drawn map and pleasant gardens to walk around with some stepping stones under a bridge. Cafe in the orangery for drinks and excellent cakes but no other snacks so don’t plan on lunch

Fabulous

We visited the house and gardens last week. The house tour was wonderful. The guides were so informative and friendly. The gardens are tranquil and very well maintained. All of the staff were so welcoming which makes a big difference when choosing where to visit. We spent about five hours here including the house tour and thoroughly enjoyed it. We would certainly return again to enjoy the gardens and orangery.

Marvellous place. Very pretty gardens, lovely walks and a great guided tour. Did not try the cafe, but it appeared everyone was having a great time.
