    Portsmouth visit
We saw The Rocky Horror Show and enjoyed it very much, lovely old theatre . We were in Portsmouth for 3 days, visited the dock area, looked over the Warrior, Submarine and HMS Victory. Had a nice meal at the Ship Anson one night and a meal at the Fig and Olive restaurant near the theatre, lovely meal, recommend it.

    Disappointing evening
We were very disappointed with our visit to see the Bee gees Jive talking show, Whilst the performance was just about ok it was not helped by the poor sound levels, but the real down side was the environment in the Theatre. The whole theatre was exceptionally hot and very stuffy with absolutely no air circulation. We sat it out for the first half, but it just got too much and my Wife was feeling ill so we sadly left at half time, it was just too hot. Such a pity as we love the Kings and have been visiting it for many years, but never during the summer months as we know it gets very hot. We did not expect this heat in September, absolutely no air circulation at all, and with a rise in Covid cases we felt very vulnerable in this environment. The theatre have worked wonders with their refurbishment programme, but need to sort out the air conditioning as a top priority.

    Poor sound system
Show was brilliant , was spoilt by the very poor sound system . Unfortunately the seating is very cramped so not the most comfortable , toilets were not the best , very small and not looked after very well , water leakage everywhere and not particularly clean . Very hot , doesn't appear that there is an air con system . I realise the Theatre is old , and money is tight and it is difficult to maintain . But wouldn't choose to see a show there again . At the very least sort out the sound system .

Compared to other theatres the ticket prices are really reasonable.
A beautiful old theatre that we use quite a bit. We saw Six here on Wednesday night and Will be coming to Level 42 next Friday. The theatre is clean, The staff friendly. Tge seats comfy, Parking is ok on Albert Road and compared to other theatres the tickets are very reasonable.

Not great experience from upper gallery
Beautiful architecture and ornate theatre, but my overall experience was poor, buying last minute tickets to see Fairytale in New York, coming home for Christmas, I was in the gallows. . Bench seating, no barriers to give a feeling of security, so high that I was momentarily stopped with vertigo, The production of the show itself was disappointing, staging didn't reflect the "story" that I was sold and expecting, and the songs felt random and at some point irrelevant sequence, this disappointment may have been exaggerated as I could not see what was shown on a screen at back of stage, this coupled with a rather poor sound system. That said the singers and dancers were okay, just the overall production let it down.

Hook 2023 you'll not be disappointed
Absolute hilarious fun for us all. We sat in the stalls this time and loved every minute of being closer to the stage - the 'dread' of being singled out adds to the fun and we all laughed so much. Every one there was having the best time ever and all of the cast was AMAZING , spectacular performance and cannot wait for next years panto :~)

    Very funny panto- 5 stars!
The funniest at has been for the past three years. Mrs Smee was fantastic, as was the lead dancer (Trev the pirate). Poor Arg was very flat, he can sing well but has no energy- albeit he’s in it for his name and not merits really. Very interactive with the audience this year which was a great touch! The toilets in the theatre are shocking but the performance was worth the standing ovation! Very well done to the writers and the cast! Great staff too!

Brilliant panto in a beautiful venue
This was our first visit to Kings, we watched the Hook panto. We were blown away by how fantastic it was. The same, Hook, Peter Pan and the entire cast were incredible - so funny and the audience interaction was hilarious. What a beautiful and special venue too. All staff we met were lovely too. We will definitely be back to see more shows here soon!

A Night of fun and laughter
We have just seen Brian Connelly last night. we have never laughed so much at any show we have seen. He is a brilliant entertainer so good at everything he does I am sure he will go down as one of our greatest entertainers on Stage in this country.

    Fabulous theatre
We are regular theaatre goers and as this is near us we are spoilt for choice between here and Chichester Festival Theatre. Both are excellent and they put on some fabulous shows. This theatre is traditional and very lovely, wheras Chichester is modern but both are just wonderful. And they put on some great shows! Get on the mailing list!

Our visit to the Christmas Eve Panto with Our 16 and 13 year old Children went down very well and the production was fab. It really was a good fun show in a well supported great traditional old Theatre.
Thanks to everyone involved for all their hard work.

Been going to kings theatre for decades and traditionally they always have ponies for Cinderella which is so magical.

I felt the panto was very inspiring to be honest. Songs weren’t brilliant and Jack Edwards being in panto every single year with the same old gags is just getting boring and tedious now. Let’s switch it up and get some decent cast in please. Not the same old boring names.

After seeing New Theatre Royals reviews this year I think I’m going to have to consider going there instead of the kings from now on.

The prices keep going up but the production values seem to go down. Shame.

We had a show cancelled by Kings Theatre Southsea earlier this year for which Kings do not give refunds, so we booked to see the pantomime instead. Had a phone call from Kings this morning cancelling the date we booked and asking us to book another.

Sod it, I've had enough of being constantly messed about by Kings and being used as a cash cow. Bye bye Kings.

What an amazing Panto. We have been going to Panto's for many years, but can honestly say this was the best Panto we've ever been to. Our children have endured many poor Panto's so as we had heard that this one was so good, we decided to take our Grandchildren and boy, are we so glad we made the 2 hour each way journey. It was fantastic and I can't recommend it enough as my words will not do it justice. Each member of the cast was brilliant so it was difficult to pick out one particular member of the cast for special praise, but the accolade has to go to Buttons who we thought stole the show. It's not too say the rest were bad as they most certainly weren't, but for us, Buttons really helped to make our Grandchildren totally engaged. At times we had to stop the kids from standing on their seats shouting out to him, they were that engaged. Whatever you're thinking of doing this Christmas, just make sure you add this to your list. You most certainly won't be disappointed 👏👏🏆👍

The Theatre itself is beautiful and steeped in history. Unfortunately, we did not have the best customer service experience and the views were not ideal.

We were in the Upper Circle and, although when no one was sat in front of us you felt nice and close and had a good visual of the stage, this was not the case when someone was in front of us. I had to sit to the side the whole performance, which was both uncomfortable for me but also made the person next to me do the same (they were sympathetic to my reasoning).

We were not the only ones who were saying how bad the views were. I know that there isn’t much the theatre can do without a major refurbishment, but I thought it would be good to mention for future customers. Maybe the stalls might be better?

I’m not sure we shall be returning to this theatre as we are just a bit too far away and the customer service was not the best, but it’s a good theatre for local families wanting to access the arts.

Went to see Lord of the Dance last night having seen the show at the Dominion in London a few times.

The performance was great and the smaller number of dancers suited the stage size. I felt that the show was more intimate and involved because of the venue. All of the dancers were fantastic and very talented to keep in time. The sound system was superb and clear.

I really liked the version of Dance Our Lives Away; a different rendition to Nadine’s vocals, but equally a very emotional experience.

The Kings did very well to bring this great show to Portsmouth, and the Kings staff were helpful and pleasant - I urge you all to enjoy the show wherever they perform.

I had the opportunity to meet some of the talented dancers 👯‍♂️ at the stage door afterwards for selfies.

Thank you Kings and the LOTD production team; photo is during credits at the end; I’d never take a picture during a show.

Just got back from Cinderella at The Kings Theatre with the family. The BEST panto we have seen. Our 5 year old and 3 year old were transfixed on the show. The venue is gorgeous and traditional - the costumes, performances and light/stage shows were as good as the West End. Big shout out to Buttons played by Joe Rowntree who has us in stitches, adults and children alike! Book tickets soon - best festive, family day out!

Brilliant! In true panto-style there were lots of topical jokes to entertain ALL the family, not just the children. Great casting this year, with amazing vocals from the Fairy and James Percy and Jack Edwards epitomise everything Panto….I hope this trio will be back in 2022. A thoroughly enjoyable experience from start to finish and a ‘must-do’ tradition in our house. Well done and thank you!
