Beautiful gift shop with unique Hand crafted gifts.
It was so special to meet the artist who made our purchase and who was able to tell us all about the sourcing and design of our beautiful baroque pearls. So good to support local artists.

Popped in to the shop today for a mooch about after being recommended to visit by a friend. I wasn't disappointed by this beautiful emporium, near the Cathedral. I was struck by the various amounts of beautiful and clever works being sold there. I even found my favourite tea being sold there ! i fell in love with the incredibly clever clocks made out of old vinyl records, partially loved the Bohemian Rhapsody one made into a crown. Time to start saving up!!
I had a lovely long chat with Emma the owner and a young lady working behind the till, they told me all about the shop, artists and the ideas behind it. They also told me about the amazing charity work that they too. Utterly inspiring shop and people.
Can't wait to go back and have another look, thinks it's going to be a favourite of mine for gift shopping, without the usual manic tour of shops.
Well done Walrus & Oyster Emporium, just what Canterbury needs x

Visited this fabulous place yesterday. Lots of wonderful goodies for yourself or as gifts. Lovely artist served us and was happy to chat to us about her work and show us round. I love that there are so many different and unique items that you wouldn’t find in high street stores, real one of a kind pieces of art. Such a wonderful concept for a store. Will definitely be back and would recommend others to go and take a look at this gem of a place to either treat yourself or do a bit of present shopping for family and friends.

The shop is a mini-marketplace for creatives to sell their creations, each renting a small shelf or rack which is effectively acting as their shop. The whole enterprise is not-for-profit and showcases work by local people in a safe, warm space. Highly recommend a visit to tap into what's being made locally by all kinds of people and all ages from students to retirees.

100% of the stock is made locally by very talented, artistic and creative people. I visited to buy a gift but I was so tempted to treat myself, to many things. The emporium is a treasure trove, a kaleidoscope, a joy with gifts for everyone and unique gifts even for that person who has everything.
Browsing the emporium makes gift buying a colourful, original and fun adventure.
Many artists have sourced, reused and repurposed items making the gifts ethical and sustainable which is simply wonderful.
I expect if you are careful while browsing you will find a walrus and carpenter chatting away and on a nearby shelf there will be a cabbage in some form, some sealing wax and pigs with wings.

This really is an emporium of quality craft items created by talented artists. Walrus and Oyster is a delightful shop to brows for a special gift lovingly created and not mass produced. This shop has a varied assortment of beautiful handmade creations ,for all budgets, such as jewellery , jewellery boxes, artwork, glass and ceramic ornaments, felted animals, teddy bears and unique clothing. Well worth visiting.

Absolutely splendid
We were aware of this wonderful shop and on our day in Canterbury were able to visit. It is amazing.Several of the artistic designers were there, and they explained the concept . Beautiful items were available ...all the artists devote their time to provide exquisite jewellery, clothes, leather items, quirky face masks and many other delightful items. Not only is it a treat to see such an array of beautiful works of art, but there is a community spirit that reaches out to those who find difficulties in participating in social environments. Something for everyone.

I love this shop. It is a house for so many beautiful artists and brands. Including up and coming designers like the Sophie Stokes brand. It is amazing to go into this shop and have a chat with the shops founder and artists who volunteer regularly in the shop. This shop is the future of Canterbury highstreet with excellent service and conversation. I can find gifts here for my girlfriend and family. This is the most unique shop in Canterbury that cares about artists and supports small business.

For the first time in years I fell in love with something in a shop window. Unfortunately it was a Saturday evening and they were closed. I thought about this beautiful dressing gown with its kimono sleeves all night and first thing Sunday I was there ready to buy.
The staff were so helpful and enthusiastic, showing me three different versions of the gown and telling me about how it was made and their philosophy of supporting over a hundred local artists.
While my gown was being wrapped my daughter and I explored the treasure trove of things to be found here. So many gorgeous and lovely pieces. I must go back and have a proper look at the art work.
So important to support local artists and The Walrus and Oyster are doing a fantastic job.
Do please go along, everything in there is so gorgeously eclectic you will definitely find something to fall in love with.
Meanwhile I am going to go back to swishing around in my sumptuous embroidered silk dressing gown feeling like a complete queen.
Thank you Walrus and Oyster!

I was on my way to another shop when I came across Walrus & Oyster Emporium, and I'm glad I did. Such a diverse and unique store, whilst in there I had the pleasure of meeting the artist Mike Harman and purchased a wonderful adult colouring book who was designed by Mike. I shall definitely be returning.
