Lovely gardens. Could do with more seating. People were reading, sunbathing and talking. Only saw one person on their phone. Not sure that kids swimming in the river under the bridge was a good idea but at least the Ice cream van wasn’t extortionate!

Walking by the rive at any time of day is a wonderful experience. You can learn where there was a tannery (now a wildflower meadow) and see the path of Watling Street, the original Roman Road. Don't miss the impressive 200-year old (give or take...More

Canterbury is a busy city with a frantic pace. Do take time out of your stay to visit some of the quieter public spaces that will give you a good sense of the quieter pace one might need.

The weather helped, but this was a lovely riverside stroll, just after breakfast and just enough to get us ready for lunch. And it's free!

In the glorious sunshine it was so nice to stroll through the gardens with my baby boy in his buggy. The gardens are so beautiful - clearly very looked after ( I even witnessed the gardeners in action!) and with the river clean and flowing,...More

The care that is taken in Westgate gardens to create beauty and colour, is amazing. The staff are very creative and do a wonderful job and all we need to do is look at it and enjoy it. It never ceases to make me smile....More

The River Stour runs through the park and against the backdrop of the last remaining gate tower and beautiful flowers, it is the perfect place to stop and chill or have a stroll.

There are about three Park and Ride parks around Canterbury and I would suggest using one of these. Canterbury is easy to walk around but not easy to park actually in the city. Using the Park and Ride solves that problem and... More
