Not the best venue
May 2018 • Couples
We thought the place was ok. Comedy club and small groups came to mind. There was to be a panto at the end of the year. It wouldn't be snow white and the seven dwarfs there only looks room for three of them here. As a comedy night we enjoyed it.

BAD VENUE, DISORGANISED CHAOS
Nov 2015 • Friends
My family and I have visited this venue on two occasions. Both times I found to be very disappointing. On the tickets it states 7pm, when in fact the shows did not start until 8/830pm, the bar staff did not have a clue on times and were rude when serving and just ignoring you when standing at the bar. The seating in the theatre is very close together and squashed, almost sitting on the next persons lap. Both times the ladies toilets have been cornered off and only one section were open, this was on an evening when there were Hen Nights, therefore being more women than usual, the toilets got blocked and would not flush, as there were only one set of toilets available the ques were long and therefore I missed some of the next half of the act through queing, not acceptable! The management DO not care about customer service, when watching a show with the theatre full of Hen parties I could not hear the act as there were so many drunk people getting out of hand, this was mentioned to the owner of the theatre 'Russell', but nothing was done about it! I have emailed the venue on three occasions asking for a refund, but NO-ONE has replied! VERY UNSATISFACTORY AND DISAPPOINTING! I was told by the owner himself that he wants the business to work, well certainly it certainly will not when you run a "cowboy" venue. Clearly he is not bothered about return custom when he cannot be bothered to reply to disgruntled customers out of common courtesy.
It is a shame as this place could of been good!

WILL NOT BE RETURNING!

First visit to the Panto
Jan 2016 • Family
This was our first visit to the theatre ,we booked late for the Panto as the theatre in Chatham was fully booked for Xmas eve ,
Went for the late show although seating is just normal chairs in rows the view was not to bad however if you're with youngsters get seats at the front or on the ends of rows !!!!
Also good idea to take you're own snacks in as expensive poor choice on sale ,,,,,
The only negative was the theatre didn't seem to be well heated had to keep coats on brrrr oh and the unruly noisy Caravan club kids that spoilt some of the first half however praise for the female manager that dealt with situation at the intermission ,
The Panto itself was well paced very funny , near the mark especially as main character called DICK !!!!!
The kids loved it pity Tina Barrett was ill however joe pancini was great and Paul Danan did a very good impression of being tipsy (or was it an impression ) !!!!!!
This Panto was a third of the price of the Brook theatre and I think it was excellent value !!!
Look Out He's Behind You !!!!!!!!!!!

Brilliant Panto
Dec 2015 • Couples
We went to see Dick Whittington on Christmas Eve expecting to see an average panto. It turned out to be brilliant - laughing from start to finish. The cast were so engaging and worked hard to involve the audience. Brilliant costumes! This was old fashioned panto at its best. We went to see Aladdin at Birmingham yesterday and I have to say that Chatham was much more enjoyable. Well done to everyone involved.

Great Panto, shame about venue!
Dec 2015 • Family
Having been to the panto here last year (which was great!), we were desperate to return. The panto was really good and the performers gave their all but it's such a shame they are let down by such a shoddy venue. It's certainly atmospheric walking above the Dickens world attraction but once your through the doors, it's like a shabby old workmans club. TBH I don't mind this so much as its for the kids after all. I love the way it's easy to take a pram in with you and as the seating is not tiered, if your on the end, you can have your pram right next to you. I do mind however the toilets. As Dickens was open to the public, they had cordoned off some of the toilets (including the baby change, knowing full well that kids would be on site?!) and this lead to women having to change their babies nappies in full view of every passing Tom, Dick and Harry. The loos were dirty and by the interval, had already run out of paper. A check or two by a member of staff at some point would be nice. It unfortunately seemed very much as if they had made a clear decision to favour their Dickens clients over and above the "panto crowd". A real shame as the panto was again, really good. Would I bother next year?......I don't know.

Dick Whittington ...fantastic entertainment for all ages
Dec 2015 • Family
Went to see Dick Whittington last weekend and the show was fantastic. The original fairy, Tina from S Club, pulled out only days before the first show. However the understudy, one of the ensemble, did extremely well to learn the lines and look confident in the role. The duets between Dick and Alice are beautifully sung and compliment each other. All the principals have good voices, even Tommy the Cat! All the dancers from the juniors to the ensemble do a great job and are obviously enjoying themselves. Joe Tracini as Jack is very funny; the dame is also funny; Derek Griffiths is very professional and Paul Danan is very energetic. Well worth seeing and tickets are very reasonably priced. I understand from one of the staff that new programmes had to be reproduced due to cast change. I will be going again before it ends on 3 Jan.

Great Panto
Dec 2015 • Family
1st time here to see a show, and very impressed. Nice small theatre with a good layout of seating. The show was great. We travelled 150 miles to this one, originally to see Tina Barrett, but unfortunately illness caused her to pull out. The rest of the cast were fab, and obviously enjoying themselves and Interacted with the audience throughout.
If it was not so far to travel, would go again before it finishes.
Advice, don't eat at Deans Diner which is next door - awful!!!

Dick Whittington
Dec 2015 • Family
Went to see the pantomime this afternoon. Was great fun, lots of jokes and an excellent cast who performed well. Derek Griffiths was scary as King Rat and Joe Tracini was simply brilliant as Jack and had us enthralled all the way through. Took younger children and teenagers who enjoyed it. It was colourful and great Christmas entertainment.

Dick Whittington Pantomime
Dec 2015 • Family
Went to see Dick Whittington on opening show. It was excellent and the cast was superb. The girl who played the 'fairy', who I understand stood in at the last minute, was excellent and nobody would ever have known it was not her original part. She deserves to keep the part. Derek Griffiths was very professional as he always is and Joe Tracini was hilarious as were the rest of the cast. It was a very entertaining show for all the family and the interaction with the audience was excellent. We all had a very entertaining visit and will certainly go again before it closes. The only negative no programmes available. Barbara B
