This small museum is beautifully set out over three floors. There are themed areas with local finds from the stone age, bronze age, the Romans occupation and through to the Anglo Saxons and more recent. Each area is well defined and exhibits are well presented and explained. The highlight of the museum is the bronze age boat on the top... More

The outstanding exhibit is the Dover Bronze Age Boat. It is an incredible survival which receives a full explanation. The other outstanding section of the museum deals excellently with the long history of the town.

Take your time to visit the museum, one of the oldest in Kent originally founded on 1836 (but rehoused in 1991). The museum contains history from the Stone Age to the Saxons. Artefacts and models can be found to understand the history.

This is an excellent museum with the most incredible exhibit - the oldest sea going boat in the world. How come we know about the one in Egypt and Oslo, but this older one dating from the Bronze Age has such a low profile? Go, you will not be disappointed. It is a well appointed museum with delightful staff.

Considering that it is free entry, this is an excellent museum with a huge range of exhibits, including the incredible ancient boat, costumes, coins and arrow heads. There were also part which were filled with quirky artefacts such that you might find at the Pitt Rivers museum - fascinating! Highly recommended

My son and I called into the museum on Saturday last and we were very impressed. There is a wide range of exhibits to enjoy covering all aspects of Dover's history and everything is well displayed and described. This museum is well worth a visit.

A fascinating Museum with such a diverse range of objects and displays. The WW2 Exhibition and Medieval Boat were extremely interesting and well worth the entrance fee.

I have to say we were most impressed by the Dover Museum, and the Bronze Age Boat Gallery. As an American, I have been to countless museums all over Europe, and the United States which were not worth the money or a recommendation to family or friends. This museum is free of charge, and has many different periods covered. We... More

The oldest boat in the world at 3.5k years old. This is a really significant thing to be able to see and learn about. 5 out of 5 for the Bronze Age Boat galleries. The rest of the museum has exhibits showing how Dover has changed over the centuries. 3 out of 5 for the rest of the museum.
