If you like a tradtional pub, this is it. No music, no TV, just the sound of people talking and enjoying a drink. The service was excellent, there's a good range of local beers and some interesting photos on the wall. Will definitely visit again...More

A quiet and cozy pub with good service, perfect for a pint or two after a day's walking. During my stay in Ambleside, I had many good conversations with fellow walkers.

As ever another memory laden trip. Love this place. Can't be many truly wet pubs still surviving in 2017 but the Rule seems to manage. Fuelled by a wide range of well kept Cumbrian ales, coal fire, shaggy carpets, low key conversation laden atmosphere (no...More

I always like to pop in here for a pint or two on trips from Liverpool. It's a proper old-fashioned pub with good beer.
