Overview
More
Hill Top was Beatrix Potter's most beloved place, packed full of her favourite things and left just as she wanted it for visitors to enjoy. You will see why she loved it so much and used it and the surrounding countryside as inspiration for many of her famous children's tales. Your visit helps the National Trust continue her work to look after the Lake District.

As I have been dreaming of seeing this house since I was a child, I had to visit! It is wonderfully preserved and is better than I imagined. Run by the National Trust, and has a wonderful gift shop as well. A must see for...More

Loved the idea that at every spot in the home, on the tables, at a window, etc. was an open book with a picture of the actual scene that Beatrix drew/painted. It was a very lovely visit. There were lots of greeters and helpers in...More

You can wander the gardens for free or inspect the house for a small charge, but if you sit still and absorb your senses it is a wonderful place to experience whatever you do!

A must for any Beatrix Potter fan, Hill Top has a lot of the original furnishings Beatrix used in the illustrations in a number of her books. A nice touch is that there are a number of copies of the relevant book available in each...More

There will be a queue to stand by the door and have your photo taken, and why not? There are copies of her books in each room and you can see the exact cupboard, or door that is in her books and where her characters...More

They only allow a certain number of people at a time, since the house is quite small, so there is a timed entrance. Get there when it opens or soon after to avoid a lengthy wait, especially on a weekend. National Trust site. Really nice...More

We had our visit set in advance, however I think you might just be able to purchase on arrival. Check the venue itself on line.
