Quiet place to visit, only the shell of the castle remains. A short climb up to castle as you would expect. Good views on a clear day. If walking from town you can watch skiers using the dry ski slope on your way up.

I have got arthritis but could manage the walk from car park to hill top . Castle ruin amazing and views stunning . You can see Peak District in distance . Well worth a trip. We have two older dogs who loved the walk too

A lovely short walk with great views of the town and countryside. Perfect for a run or walk with the dog on a sunny evening.

Always worthwhile to visit. The views and the medieval atmosphere are worth the uphill walk. The central ruined keep has climbing and exploring opportunities for the kids and the walls enclose a protected lawned area excellent for picnics or a kick about. It's a steep...More

Note to prospective travellers - This is not a castle with parking, toilets and other amenities. You will have to park in Kendal town (which had a suprising amount of congestion!) and make the journey up to the castle. We parked in the shopping centre...More
