We dropped in here on the off chance of food due when staying in the area. What a find.
Dogs were made very welcome, Guinness was spot on but the food was out if this world.
I didn’t take pics of starters but did of our mains. Really tasty and thoroughly enjoyable
Highly recommend to anyone

Great location, nice atmosphere and good service. We arrived at lunchtime but as we had had late breakfast we didn't eat, although there was a very extensive menu and the food being served to other customers looked delicious.

Staff at this establishment clearly need training I customer care and basic manners. They were rude, curt and generally unfriendly

Visited twice during a recent stay in Keswick as this was near where we stayed. The first visit was due to the location the second was because the food was delicious. It was just as good second visit! Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area

Cannot recommend this place enough for their food. We've visited in the past, and went twice on our recent trip to the lakes. Everything we've tried has been amazing - the Indian platter, scampi and chips, steak and ale pie, lamb Henry. Definitely worth paying a visit!

Used as a base for exploring the lakes with three other friends over a Fri-Sun stay.
Bunkhouse accommodation is exactly what it says on the tin. It is very basic accommodation, and the price reflects what you get. Bunks and bedding.
Kitchen, Toilet Block, and other shared accommodation very clean and all in perfect working order. Plenty of hot water for showers.
Pub itself serves a well-kept pint of ale and decent food. Not many tables available inside so, as we were told many times, you have to book.
It appeared to us that the bar staff prioritized eaters over drinkers so don’t expect to have a quiet pint if they are busy. We were also told “no drinking at the bar” on a Saturday afternoon which was very odd.
Note – unlike some accommodation locally the pub doesn’t offer packed lunches for those staying in the bunkhouse – we were told it’d be cheaper to head the 20 mins in to Keswick and get one from co-op. Menu in house and online said they did lunches.......
All things considered it is a good, basic, base in a great location for that side of the lakes.
Disappointingly the one down side was that we found the staff to be quite rude throughout (we gave them benefit of the doubt the first two interactions but it just carried on) and that will put us off booking there again.

Really enjoyed our turkey dinners, huge portions with mashed & roast potatoes. Lovely log fire which was very welcome on the cold night.
Very attentive staff.

I recently stayed here while teaching a Wilderness Medicine course to medical students. The bunkhouse is clean, with comfortable bunkbeds (with heaters in room) and everything you could want or need from Hot showers, clean bathroom, FULLY kitted kitchen of appliances (stove, microwave, kettle, cutlery and crockery) with inside and outside tables/benches to eat. PET friendly and WIFI too!!!
The White Horse resPaurant is AMAZING. We had great meals (amazing home made steak cooked in ale pie!!!) and cold beers! Phil and his coworkers do a phenomenal job. Really great value for money! Thank you
