We had a fantastic February walk up to Orrest Head, you won't be disappointed with the scenery once higher up, If you are going in winter then use the correct footwear as can be very slippy, we took the children 8 & 12 who easily...More

Well sign posted walk and suitable for all the family. In wet and muddy conditions I would recommend sensible footwear, but you don't need climbing boots. There is a good path up to a wooded area and the last part of the walk is over...More

I highly recommend this short walk up to Orrest Head. The ground was very wet and slippy in places but this is to be expected in January. The 360 degree views at the top, including lake windermere, made it well worth while.

Lovely in winter, although my shoes got super muddy from slushy snow & I got a bit lost at one point coming down from the peak. Beautiful walk though

It is not too strenuous a walk and the path is good and solid. We had limited visibility due to mist but even so it was great to look out over the Lake District. Wear sensible walking shoes. Climbers boots are not needed.
