We are not great walkers but found this walk from Windermere to orrest head very acceptable (bit of a climb to get to the top) but scenery is worth the trek and all down hill after

The walk is a gradual incline not to steep and easily accessible for the walking. Well worth a visit, lovely view, take a small picnic and sit and watch life on Lake Windermere go by.

Although not very high, Orrest Head provides a spectacular viewpoint looking out over Windermere and the distant mountains beyond the lake. The path is not too steep and it is a very easy and straightforward walk. It is very easy to locate the start across...More

First place old Wainwright went in the lakes. An easy 'climb' to the time and views to die for. There are nice tea and coffee shops at the bottom of the hill too.

A lovely little path walk above Windermere, with steeper shortcuts through wooded areas. Obviously popular with couples, dog walkers and visitors alike. Lovely views over Windermere with a slate display signposting the mountains in the distance.

Easy 30 mins walk from Windermere station up to the top. Path was muddy as it rained in the morning. A lady slipped and fell despite wearing hiking boots so do be careful. Breathtaking view.

Lovely walk through the forest with not to steep a climb to a beautiful view over the lake. We took the long way down that goes all the way around the mountain through the fields

Nice little walk up and great views when at the top, but there are no bins and idiots do leave litter, spoiling the nature!!! There path up isn't the greatest, so I wouldn't advise going up in normal Street footwear!!!

Enjoy a walk away from the crowds below, to enjoy a beautiful and peaceful place. A well marked trail.

During the Winter months the higher fells usually have a coating of snow. If there was snow this is where you would see (but not necessarily be in it).
