We are English heritage members so got in free, otherwise it is not worth the entrance fee. Nothing to see apart from half a shell of a building and what used to be a garden. No cafe on site, only parking outside for disabled visitors,...More

Large area to explore and lots of towers to ascend giving great views. Highlight, especially for the kids, is the underground tunnel.

We started the day intending to visit the Allthorp estate, unfortunately the place opened at 2pm, too long to Ang around so we searched for attractions & found Ashby castle & grounds. What a find glad we visited, lovely place & well worth a few...More

There is plenty to see in terms of ruins in a good state of preservation, fantastic views from the top of the tower

Take a picnic.. You are free to roam around the castle and grounds at your leisure. English Heritage also provide Audio Guides so you can find out a bit about the history of the place.

You would not have to spend too long here, but a lovely little visit on a sunny day. The staff were so nice and professional and extremely helpful, so well done to them.
