About
The multi-award winning IBCC opened to the public for the first time in the January 2018. The site includes the one of the UK's tallest War Memorials, the Spire, which stands out on Lincoln's skyline at 31.09m tall, the same height as the wingspan of a Lancaster Bomber. The Spire is surrounded by curved walls which carry the names of 57,871 men and women who gave their lives whilst in the service of Bomber Command during WW2. The Spire is set in 10 acres of landscaped peace gardens, one of which represents Lincolnshire's contribution to the war and one that recognizes the involvement of 62 nations in Bomber Command. The Chadwick Centre provides all our visitor facilities and hosts three exhibition galleries covering our core themes of Recognition, Remembrance and Reconciliation. There is also an education suite and facilities for corporate hospitality. Children's trails and craft sessions available. The site is free to visit but tickets are needed to gain access to the Exhibition.

Impressive and moving experience that puts into context the suffering of war.
Nov 2021 • Friends
Although it was a bitterly cold November Sunday, we received a warm welcome. Our guide braved the weather, which made me think of the freezing conditions the crews had to endure for many hours on the raids. The centre is a fitting tribute to the men and women who gave their lives and put straight some of the many misconceptions and mis-information that resulted from the politics of war. We’ll worth a visit and we’ll be going back when the weather improves.

Dear TangoNick Thank you, so much, for taking the time to write a review and for your lovely comments regarding the centre. What a shame the weather was bad but, as you say, it added to the experience. I hope you were able to enjoy a hot beverage in the Hub Cafe afterwards. We look forward to welcoming you again in the future. Best wishes

IBCC ...Highly recommended
Nov 2021 • Couples
There are almost 58,000 reasons why IBCC should be visited. It is a first class facility that has been designed with so much thought and consideration for the losses experienced by bomber command during the 2nd World War.
Our guide was really knowledgable and passionate. Both my partner and I learned so much from the experience. We didn't realise bomber command had been so badly treated by the politicians and some of the people of this country after the 2nd World war.It is very fitting that a memorial has finally been constructed in recognition of the 57861 men and women who gave their lives in support of bomber command.

An interesting and thought provoking afternoon
Nov 2021 • Couples
Myself and my husband visited IBCC one Sunday afternoon with my parents as my husband and dad are very interested in WW2 history.

It was heartbreaking to learn that after taking such risks during the war that most of the survivors from bomber command were treated appallingly by the public and politicians.

The guided tour was brilliant- the guide was very knowledgable and obviously very passionate about the subject. The exhibition was interactive and engaging. The cafe also has great food.

We will be going back for another visit in the spring/summer to fully appreciate the gardens!

What a thoughtful and insightful museum and memorial. An excellent place to visit if you have any interest in Lincolnshire history, the RSF or WW2 history. The museum is well presented and we had an excellent explanatory tour of the memorial.

Nov 2021
An extremely well presented exhibition and a very emotive place to visit. We learned so much about the activities, and losses, of Bomber Command. Plenty of parking (£3 - which entitles you to walk round the grounds - very good value). Breakfast in the restaurant is a must - again, excellent value. and an excellent restaurant which

Regardless of the politics the 50000+ names on the memorial put it into perspective, without their sacrifice we would be leading different lives.

Extremely poignant, moving and controversial
Nov 2021 • Friends
Unfortunately because of the ongoing controversy around any bombing campaign, those involved who paid the ultimate price is far-too-often either forgotten or conveniently ignored. An extremely moving memorial that pays respect to all those of difficult nationalities that came together to defeat the Nazi regime and all its horrors. Much is often deservedly said of the Fighter Command, hopefully the Bomber Command will also be given its due place in the final reckoning.

Emotional and very interesting
Oct 2021
Modern technology very impressively used to bring alive the experiences of the people involved in Bomber Command. However, there was so much noise going on from the different elements, voices of the different 'people' talking at once, that it was difficult to focus and to concentrate. We gave up in the end and went outside. Perhaps the super technology has been over used and back fired somewhat?

Dear SW20591 Thank you for taking time to feedback about your experience and that you found the visit interesting. I am sorry though that you found the exhibition difficult because of the noise levels. On most days the cross over of sound between the exhibits does not impact on visitors but occasionally, when particularly busy, the number of units that are being used at the same time can cause issues such as you describe. We have been working with the exhibition designers to see if there is a way to ameliorate the issue and will continue this work. Our apologies again. Kind regards Nicky
