- Kerry and LucySwansea, United Kingdom5 contributionsLove LocksWe went to the Albert Dock quite early and found it to be very peaceful and beautiful. The old buildings were incredible and the view onto the water was lovely. We had breakfast in a wonderful little cafe where the service was impeccable. We visited the Maritime Museum and put a lock on the bridge.Visited December 2022Travelled as a coupleWritten 4 January 2023
- Stephen MManchester, United Kingdom541 contributionsWorth a lookHad a walk round whilst my girlfriend went around the shops. Plenty of places to eat and drink Museums to visit for those interested. It’s Interesting just for a wander and look around or take a seat and look across the Mersey. Weather was very poor and would have been more enjoyable in dryer conditions.Visited January 2023Travelled soloWritten 9 January 2023
- Duckey106 contributionsA little bit of heavenBeautiful place to visit. Lots of shops, quirky ones, souvenir shops and a sweet shop filled to the brim with every sweet imaginable! There is also loads of places to eat. With a little something for everyone's taste buds. Plenty of coffee places too for a nice relaxing hour to people watch and just chill in beautiful surroundings.Visited January 2023Written 10 January 2023
- Keith CWarminster, United Kingdom1,027 contributionsEssential LiverpoolSo much of what is Liverpool: Docks, Beatles Museum, Tate Museum, Liverpool Museum, iconic historical buildings, all beside the River Mersey and across the road from the central shopping precinct. Also includes good range of restaurants, cafes and boutique shops. Great views of the city skyline. And, it’s all level and easy to negotiateVisited January 2023Travelled soloWritten 18 January 2023
- michael aFarnham, United Kingdom632 contributionsVisiting - EssentialI love Liverpool and The Royal Albert Dock is packed with things to do and eat. I recommended spending at least 2 days visiting the museums, restaurants and taking the nearby Ferry 'Cross the Mersey. Throughout the dock there are fabulous statues, instructive information plinths alongside boats and barges. You can also take the Magical Mystery Tour or the red/blue buses for brilliant tours around Liverpool. This place is essential on any tourist trip to Liverpool.Visited February 2023Written 12 February 2023

- Lizzie SHampshire, United Kingdom65 contributionsDisappointedWas quite disappointed with the Albert Docks more coffee/Food places than shops and the shops that were there weren’t anything special. Place seemed uncared for and toilets a disgrace. The museums were great well with a visit and please remember to leave a donation I watched lots of people just walk out without putting even 50p in box.Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 27 March 2023

It was less than perfect weather but still lots to look at including various statues, memorials, and a selection of locks left by ‘000’s of people on he chain link fence. Lots of shopsVisited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 28 March 2023

Down from Scotland for a couple of days in Liverpool with missus and kids. Took a wonder around the famous waterfront and it was really busy everywhere so it must be a huge tourist attraction. Visited the Liverpool Museum for an hour or so and it was pretty interesting. Again lots of families and kids enjoying the various exhibitions.
We then continued to the Albert Dock for a mooch there and we found it even busier, but there was a great buzz about the place with food stalls and lots of outdoor eating areas. It was very expensive though, more than £10 for fish and chips for example. Wanted to see the Tate Gallery but discovered it was closed for refurbishment for two years so that was a disappointment.
Not many genuinely individual shops at the Albert Dock - the usual souvenirs and expensive gift shops and overpriced bars, restaurants and a chip shop who's prices were really taking the mickey. This is Liverpool not Manchester or London, or even Edinburgh!
Found the Beatles Story museum and again it was way too expensive admission to take a family of four so decided to hang about no more than another 10 minutes in it's gift shop, before heading across the big road to the Liverpool One shopping area.

So much to do here, we didn’t imagine we’d be here all day. Great Tate gallery, interesting pieces, always a conversation starter. Nice cafes and restaurants, then of course the museums are so worth it, got carried away ready every bit of info around the Titanic museum. Would recommend for all ages.

The Royal Albert Dock is a wonderful waterfront area of our city that's just a joy to visit, I love the architecture here ,the museums, the great views of the River Mersey and the wonderful pubs, bars, cafe's and restaurants, my twin brother Stephen and I were here second week of November, cold, raining and overcast and the Royal Albert Dock was still very busy, its a big tourist magnet, its so fun to visit, if you're planning a trip to Liverpool its a waterfront location most definitely well worth checking out.

Sunday 7pm and nowhere to eat
All restaurants were full or had stopped serving. We walked for over an hour and in the end went in the only restaurant still serving food. I won’t name it but it wasn’t great.
Liverpool street’s are filthy and you can smell weed everywhere
We are booked for 3 nights but only staying 1
Liverpool what a disappointment

How long would you say is best to stay here for? Thanks

TBH we did not stay very long here, popped in for a coffee and admired the view and moved on as there were lots of other things to see in the area. There are some nice restaurants and shops only we just wanted drinks.
The shops and Pier Head are a short walk away from Royal Albert Dock including the ferry across the Mersey which was a lovely trip to look at the views from the water. Really enjoyed Liverpool as everything is walkable. Hope this helps. Look at my other reviews about Liverpool as just returned from there.

I wouldn’t of thought so, but maybe ask as has been suggested by Rande60.
We certainly didn’t see any fishing going on, it was way too windy, even for the hardiest of fishermen!!

What is the latest uptodate info (2019) about dogs being allowed onto the Albert Dock Site. A 2016 post complained about dogs not being allowed but the Albert Dock website today says "responsible dogs" are allowed. I thought we were all responsible dog owners !!

I completely agree about parking charges. It is £8.00 for three hours even for disabled parking which should be free. It is a great pity which takes the shine of visiting what is otherwise a great attraction. Come on Liverpool, some free parking please.

Yes very unfair in London I had to £46 for 24 hours but agree that there should be free parking for the handicapped

Absolute rubbish. With the new building around it and record visits every day, it is hardly going to be demolished.
