The open space, once you have entered the museum is beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. The museum has something for everyone. I still get full of anticipation at the Egyptian room, ever since my first visit, as a child, with my grandfather.

We went at the end of our trip, so we were all really tired when we went. The museum was enormous and you could easily spend days in it and not see everything. It was sometimes overwhelming with how much there was too see. It is worth buying the map/ guide with the top 10 things to see if you... More

I could have spent hours here. We were there for about 4.5 hours and actually went to maybe three areas of the museum. It was great.

Don't miss visiting this museum--this from a person who isn't a lover of museums in general. Amazed at the number and size of sculptures from the Parthenon. Huge collection of ancient Egyptian and Greek sculptures.

Lots of artifacts from around the world. Some rooms a bit chaotic because it is so busy (i.e. the Egyptian mummies where it is closer exhibits can be tricky to navigate thru the many school children)

We had a dreary weather day on a recent visit to London, so decided to visit the British Museum. What a great last minute decision it was. Apart from being free, it was fantastic! The Egyptian and Greek displays were fantastic, even though I'm not a great supporter of the Acropolis relics being on display in London ... send them... More

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighbourhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
