Amazing collection. Just hit the high notes with kids. Been to the Acropolis but had to come here to see the Elgrin Marbles. Beautiful building as well.

If you like history this is one of the best museums in the world. Ancient Greece as well as many cultures that no longer exist.

I visit the museum only to see the marbles from Parthenon colection. It was an amazing experience, to see, those made by your ancestorsn 2500 years before. I hope one day to see the marbles, there who belong, at Parthenon in Athens.

I have visited many museums in other countries, and I am of the view that the best museum is the British museum. You literally can see the ancient world in British museum as it exhibits many ancient relics of Egypt, Greece, Assyria etc. The relic are preserved in good condition, exhibited in good lighting with informative narrative to help visitors... Museum to me are some of the truly best places, and what I love about London, the majority of incredible museums are free, like the British Museum. It has a magnificent collection of artifacts, great atmosphere (if you are like me and enjoy just passing time in a museum for its some of the best places to think), and this... More

As a Greek I felt insulted by the inaccuracies and half truths written near the Cariad. I adamantly believe the parthenon marbles belong to us and they never belonged to any Elgin. And I also support that each nation should own their own heritage.

A must go to site. The architecture is definitely one of the best in the world. Don't forget to look up. The exhibitions are great and food/ cafes all the way around. We used the cloakroom (£1.50 an item) and would recommend as the museum is big!!!

Check. Exhibits are wonderful. Great gifts in the shops too. More seats for tired visitors would be helpful.

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighbourhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
