The area
Neighbourhood: Soho
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighbourhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.

Soho is the main entertainment district located in the heart of London. It is filled with theaters, restaurants, bars, and nightclubs.
Soho is very known for its lively nightlife. It has been the center of London's LGBT+ community for decades with buzzing gay and lesbian bars around Old Compton Street.
It was Pride week on our visit. So it was very busy and every bar was filled to capacity.

The genius Karl Marx lived on Dean Street in Soho whilst writing Das Kapital, the work that completely explains the field of economics.

You'd think it would be easy to write a review about a place like this, but I come here almost everyday. What can I say that hasn't already been said and the fact that I find something new every time as well. Such a fantastic part London, filled with everything, cafes, bars, restaurants, clubs, shops. Amazing music venues and so much to see. This is such a unique and brilliant part of London. I find myself in and around Soho with work, meetings, events, meals out and sometimes just passing through on my way home. It's an incredible place.

Soho is one of these places that has something for everyone, every taste. From bars to restaurants to big clubs or shops, or just musical theatres and nice venues to walk around.
The nightlife is stunning (and expensive) but worth to go. What happens in Soho, stays in Soho ;)

Buzzing with lots to and surrounded by the best of what’s on offer in London. Bars, restaurants, attractive buildings and squares. Quaint back streets with modern and trendy stores

This area is not to be missed on a trip to London. It has been modernised over the years but still is the site of numerous great restaurants, bars, film industry headquarters and, of course, massage parlours. You can soak up the atmosphere particularly in the evening when the whole place comes to life. There is plenty to see and do and the area has lost its unsafe image although parts are still a little seedy.

Soho is located nearby Piccadilly Circus, Oxford Street and Chinatown. You can easily get to Soho by one of the many underground stations. Soho has a quirky and cool vibe with many restaurants, pubs, nightclubs and theatres located here. Soho has a different feel at night when it is lit up and is cranking with people compared to during the day. There are so many places to choose from to eat in Soho.

My roommate from college (now in our 40's) and I are looking to spend 2 days in London. We have both traveled abroad before but never to London. Recommendations on where to eat, stay, do, ways to get around, are all appreciated. Just realizing that London is twice the size on NYC........WOW.

Two great places to eat are Duck N Rice in SoHo and Khans of Kensington for Indian . Both will be less than 50 USD a head including drinks. I agree on the tip on the Oyster card to travel around . If you can afford it stay in Zone 1 on the tube basically the West End Somewhere . Lots of Marriotts , Hilton’s etc along Gloucester Road easy hop to most places. One final place you might try is a cocktail bar called Evans&Peel Detective agency but don’t tell your friend wife whatever where you are going. The bus tours are good for the very limited time you have

I don't think there are any shops that sell dates, the dried fruit you are talking about I guess?!
I would suggest finding a Holland and Barrett health food store or large supermarket.
