The Florence Nightingale Museum celebrates the life and work of one of the best known figures in nursing history and one of Britain's great Victorians who truly changed the world. Located within St Thomas’ Hospital, the museum was opened in 1989 and now forms a key part of London’s heritage-offer, with visitors arriving from across the world. The collection consists of personal material associated with Florence Nightingale, items relating to the Crimean War and nursing artefacts. The museum offers a free introductory highlights tour daily at 3.30pm with additional tours available on Saturdays and Sundays at 11.30am. Guided talks by museum staff and Florence Nightingale herself are available if booked in advance, including tours in German and Italian. The museum also offers regular appearances from costumed performers, bringing history to life. The museum gift shop and webshop offers many unique items inspired by the museums collections and Florence's fascinating life story.

Lovely small museum on the grounds of St Thomas Hospital. This museum shows the history and evolution of Florence Nightingale from a young woman of the upper classes to the woman who transformed the nursing profession. Her tireless spirit is an inspiration to healthcare professionals...More

I came here knowing very little about Florence Nightingale (other than her being a 'famous nurse') and definitely left with a better understanding of her notoriety. I would call it an exhibition rather than a museum due to it being laid out in a single...More

I'm sorry to hear that you found the museum expensive. We certainly appreciate that visitors can find it a little confusing that a vast museum like the Imperial War Museum is free to enter, whereas we have to charge a modest admission price for a...More

A great history of Florence Nightingale's life. Museum is small and next to a large hospital near the River Thames in downtown London. Nice souvenir shop. Worth a quick look if you have a Nurse in the family.
