Great luxury cinema! Comfortable seating and pretty nice films selection. French atmospheric and vibes! :)

After the refurbishment of the summer the Cine Lumière has changed its system to allocated seating, but what chaos has resulted. Presumably as one member of staff is now required to show people to their seats, there is only one cashier at the box office. She asks each purchaser in turn where they want to sit and they must choose... More

The good bits: super comfortable seating, great seating map, french atmosphere and some special good vibes on the air. The screen is quite big and produces sharp and high quality image. Staff is friendly. The films selection is quite good. The bad bits: audio quality is average and unbalanced. Overall this is a good value cinema with a nice atmosphere... More

My wife and I went to see " On the road with Socrates " and talk by Daniel Cohn-Bendit recently . The film was ok and the talk by Mr Cohn-Bendit was enjoyable if a bit spoilt by his interviewer wanting to hog the limelight , talk about himself and fail to listen properly to his interviewee. I can't remember... More

Very nice café - not a huge selection of food but what they had was very good, comfortable seating and good service - meal for two inc. drinks a little under £30. Quiet ambience and not too busy. Institute Francais/ Cine Lumiere is hidden away slightly but easy to get to.

They always have a varied and interesting programme of events and films here. The cinema is a good size with comfortable seating. The cinema is within the Institute Français, so you can enjoy a glass of wine and a light bite in the Bistro before or after your film. Highly recommended.

I've visited a number of times and have always enjoyed! Shows a great variety of films (French, European and World cinema - with subtitles) and has a lovely bistro with freshly made macarons.

Wonderful afternoon at the cinema, comfortable seating. Friendly staff and other patrons like escaping London for an hour or so. With no £10 buckets of popcorn. Will happily revisit.

The cinema is very big. Totally different environment to see a movie. Also, the restaurant/coffee is very well decorated. Do not forget to check for festivals and gigs. They tend to deliver very exclusive performances. For example, wonderful live performance of a French accordionist in one of the exquisite chambers.

I recently went to Cine Lumiere to see an Italian film at the London Film Festival. Staff were helpful, seating was comfortable. The only issue I had (hence the three stars) was the condition of the basement toilets. One did not flush properly and the men's loos were under refurbishment so there was more of a queue than normal.

This was my first visit to the Ciné Lumière (part of the Institut Français London) after a friend gave me its excellent movie programme brochure. I booked my tickets by phone, then went there an hour before the film began to visit Le Bistrot, the pleasant café just below the cinema, and the huge media library on the floor above.... More
