Part of the South Bank Centre, the gallery is Brutalist concrete. Check out the cafe with great views and coffee. Exhibition was great with huge images hung singularly on plain walls. Unlike other recent exhibitions I've attended in London where they cram visitors in this...More

The refurbishment of the Hayward is a triumph. The pyramidal lights in the roof finally revealed (and lit up for London Lumiere after Christmas), flowing rooms, beautiful terrazzo floor and skilfully poured elegant elements in concrete. And as if that wasn't enough, Andreas Gursky. Large...More

We visited the wonderful exhibition of Andreas Gursky photographs. These works are amazing, including for instance great scenes of the inside of an Amazon warehouse, of a cane charity factory in China and the port of Salerno showing a myriad of cars and containers on...More

We've been waiting a long time for the reopening of the Hayward and to have Gursky as the first exhibition is a masterstroke. Getting in was chaotic as the ticket desk didn't seem to know about pre-booked tickets. But once inside we thoroughly enjoyed the...More

Have seen the Andreas Gursky exhibition there, it is definitely a visit worth...you should hurry up, the Gursky exhibition will end in April. The inside is well kept, the outside is rather brutal...concrete brutalism at its best.

Going to visit the newly re-opened Hayward? Don’t forget that unlike many other London galleries the Hayward offer little in the way of concession prices.Any gesture to regular OAP visitors would not go amiss, especially with the current £ 16 admission. Yes they’ll tell you...More

Went to Hayward Gallery today. Reopened two weeks ago. I'd already admired the fabulous changing light coloured display from the replacement glass roof pyramid lights before Xmas. And it's worth pointing out that I'm one of those who adore the 'brutalist' concrete of the SouthBank...More

This is a review on the exhibit rather than the gallery itself. The gallery is part of the Southbank Center, a cultural complex that features numerous events simultaneously and is also a great place for families with kids. The exhibit was a retrospective of Andreas...More

Opened in 1968, the building is probably one of the least-loved Brutalist buildings in London, uncompromising on the outside, but better on the inside where the gallery spaces and terraces (when open) connect round a central concrete staircase. Now refurbished internally and reopened (the exterior...More

If you go along you will see workmen, and the cafe and entrance boarded up. A new and rejuvenated Gallery will open 2018

Big time attractions such as the London Eye and a
thriving theatre scene (compliments of the National
Theatre and the Young Vic) are but a few of the
reasons that Southbank is such a collectively
cherished part of town. With plenty of family friendly
activities and venues lined up along a pedestrianized
river bank between Westminster Bridge and Waterloo
Bridge, visitors can always expect a casual and
