Fortnum & Mason is the quintessential and all I ever expected and more store. Anywhere that has teacups with wings on the stairway is my kind of store. I loved the experience and the variety of all the offerings. The traditional and non-traditional can be found here as far as customer service goes. I would like to share that I purchased, while in London, two Decembers ago a lovely tea mug (as well as many other things..lol). Upon using it for a while, it started to stain on the inside and not in the normal way. I reached out to F&M from the US, sent them pictures, and promptly sent a replacement mug with a wonderful tea selection. When I return to London, I will be taking the tours that they offer to learn more about this British tradition. If you are staying in a flat, treat yourself to a lovely steak or fresh pasta in the food court to cook back at your flat. Grab a bottle of wine and some bread, and you are set for a fraction of what it would cost you at a restaurant for the same quality. I would never not recommend a stop (or several..lol) stops here.

I am horrified to report the following story. Yesterday I received a beautiful Breakfast Hamper which was sent to me my my dearest friends who are celebrating their Ruby wedding anniversay. They thought it would be wonderful to share a breakfast together online and this was the perfect way for us to get together to celebrate. We noticed that the bread supplied was solid - in fact it was extremely stale dispite the sell by date. I therefore contacted F&M customer services and informed the company of the situation. I pointed out that I would not feel able to discuss this with our friends as I did not wish to embarrass them by suggesting that a gift they sent was sub-standard. I was told that there was no way that the situation could be resolved as a result of the Data Protection Act and the fact that a replacement could only be sent with the approval of our friends and that they would therefore need to contact them. Firstly, I fail to understand the DPA breach that would occur by resolving the matter directly. I was also told that it was not possible simply to send out a new loaf. So, this matter was unresolved. I have to believe that the Fortnum and Mason policy is to rest on a historical reputation rather than reagrding the current customers as in any way important. I fully expect this matter to remain unresolved becasue F&M actually do not care. I should point out that our friends have held an account with the company for many years. At the point at which we feel we can refer to this situation with them we will certainly be recommending that they close their account. This is a simple matter which could have been resolved so easily. In fact, it is mostly the fact that this was not resolved quickly and painlessly that annoys me so much. The actual response was SO diametrically opposed to my expectations that I feel it so necessary to let others know of how little F&M care about their customers.

Horrible. I ordered a birthday package to be delivered in 48 hours and 1 week after still nothing ! Someone named Anthony Markham exchanged more than 20 emails with me only to explain me his lack of competence and not to give me any solutions. The birthday was really bad due to this unacceptable services. To avoid !!!

Old fashioned London it a great store to shop in or just look round in. It dose get very busy it a must see when in London. Not sure why people are leaving reviews about online shopping. Cant wait until afternoon tea is open again

I ordered a musical advent calendar online but when it arrived it was un suitable for a young child. I returned it to the Ely returns address on Dec 1st. No refund was forthcoming so I contacted customer services via email to be told it would be looked into. I was then asked to wait until Jan 1st as they were exceptionally busy - understandable during Covid 19 However, two further emails after Xmas have produced no response at all. Appalling service - will never buy from Fortnum and Mason online again
