Harrods remains at the height of British luxury retail, attracting millions of loyal customers

from across the globe with its unrivalled product selection, world-class service, innovative

retail theatre and historic setting.

The store was opened in 1849

by Charles Henry Harrod as an

expansion of his humble East End

grocery and tea business. Today, it is

one of the most distinguished names

in the world.

Seven floors and 330 departments

showcase the best of luxury

merchandise, from high-end fashion

and accessories to the finest

homewares and the latest technology.

There are 28 restaurants in-store;

we continue to enhance our portfolio

with Galvin Demoiselle, Bentley's

Sea Grill, and the institution that is

The Georgian.

Customers enjoy a wealth of exclusive

services, such as By Appointment

Personal Shopping and The

Penthouse, a private suite dedicated

to unsurpassed bespoke service in a

beautiful environment.

Other departments include the

Urban Retreat at Harrods spa, a

theatre ticket bureau, and The Studio,

the store's interior-design service.

Qatar Holding acquired the business

in 2010, and it continues to guide

- and invest strongly in - the store

according to its philosophy: Anything

is possible.

Harrods continuously seeks to

surpass the desires and expectations

of its customers, staying true to its

original motto: Omnia omnibus ubique

(everything for everyone, everywhere).

Harrods is located on Brompton

Road, near the Knightsbridge London

Underground station.

We visited this large department store again while in the area and although it was very crowded, we enjoyed walking round looking at all the luxury items we could not afford to buy. There is a memorial for Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed which I thought was thought-provoking. The displays in the food hall were wonderful and we ended up... More

The small plate of Foie Gras croissant and black truffle to share was delicious. The waiter also allowed us to share a glass of wine (with two separate glasses ) to sip. The food amount was small but it enabled us to try something special, cost for two sharing was $62 but worth the experience.

What an over-the-top department store! The food halls are overflowing with everything from cuts of beef to cheese to exotic fruits...and lots and lots of Easter candy! The jewelry department(s) houses unbelievable treasures from designers you've heard of but never seen in everyday life. "Shoe Haven" is exactly that - a haven of unbelievableness! There's SO much more, but I'll... More

Harrods is a huge high end department store. Lots of big names and designers. There are also many restaurants and eateries. We spent a few hours here. Even without plans of buying things, there are just so many things to see. If you have extra time in your itinerary, it's definitely worth going. I probably wouldn't make extra time for... More

Staying in Knightsbridge

Neighbourhood Profile
When millions of tourists want to shop 'til they drop, they do it along Brompton Road and its boutique-lined tributaries, including the world-renowned Harrods. And when millionaires want to flaunt what they've already got, many of them find Knightsbridge and Belgravia the perfect place to do so, often behind stately mansion walls or down quiet private mews. Delve beyond the ultra-luxe exterior and you'll find some of this city's cosiest pubs, quiet gardens, and all sorts of indie retailers and enterprises worth a short exercise in spontaneous window shopping. For those looking to take a break from shopping, Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, and some of the city's most popular museums are nearby.
