Although there have been various earlier entertainment buildings on the site the reconstructed Adelphi Theatre, with its art deco interiors, opened to the public in December 1930 with Jessie Matthews starring in Ever Green. The front-of-house areas of the Adelphi Theatre were restored to their original lustre and extravagance in 1993 when Andrew Lloyd Webber became co-owner and opened his musical production of Sunset Boulevard. Other famous productions at the Adelphi Theatre include Gertrude Lawrence in Cole Porter’s Nymph Errant, Ivor Novello’s The Dancing Years, Bless The Bride, Beatrice Lillie as Auntie Mame, Van Johnson in The Music Man, Lionel Bart’s Blitz! and Maggie May, Charlie Girl with Anna Neagle, a revival of Me and My Girl originally starring Robert Lindsay and Emma Thompson and in the Adelphi Theatre’s longest run (over nine years), the new Broadway production of Kander and Ebb’s Chicago. Revivals of Evita and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat have proved enormously popular. More recently, the theatre played host to the worldwide premiere of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical Love Never Dies.

This show was one of the best shows I have seen. The music was unbelievable and everyone in the theatre was enjoying the show. Matt Henry who plays Lola was perfect for his role and the costumes beautiful.

What a fantastic show. I was slightly concerned that the show would not do justice to the film but I think it changed the bits necessary to make this work on the stage and this did not detract from the story at all. Matt Henry was absolutely incredible as were all the cast. This production is full of energy but... More

The lead Matt Henry who plays Lola is absolutely out of this world. What a wonderful voice, he has elements of dark and shade in his vocal range which touch your soul. He's an absolutely brilliant dancer and performer. I had no idea what the musical was about and was thouroughly thrilled. I'm going to see it again with my... More

Energetic and enthusiastic cast with a great story to tell. The songs aren't great but the performance carries you along in a wave of colour and style. Real feel -good show...cheered us both up and set us up for the festive season.

I just want to give warning to all of you there if any of you would like to buy a ticket. Please don't buy it on restricted view as will only totally ruin your experience of the show. There is no way you can enjoy the show if you only to see 3/4 of the stage. We were mis-sold the... More

This amazing show is based on a true story which makes it even more fascinating. Songs by Cyndi Lauper, this show takes the top spot in theatre for me. I laughed so hard, cried and laughed again. Highly recommended!!!

A thoroughly enjoyable performance. Cast sang in an American accent which was a little annoying but didn't detract from an unforgettable show!
