Address
Neighbourhood: Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
How to get there

Foodie heaven but fruit and veg very overpriced

Foodie heaven with amazing cheeses, cuts of meat and Street food. However the main fruit and vegetable area charges at least 3 times as much for their stock. I understand for exotic produce however not sure hire they actually move their stock.

Losing it's Charm
Mar 2021
Unfortunately because of the ongoing situation Borough Market is slowly starting to lose its charm. There are some hidden gems such as great coffee stalls, empanadas, wraps, doughnuts and fresh produce. However, the prices have unsurprisingly gone up, portions have gone down and the guards are seriously unpleasant. I know its their job to ensure everyone is protected but they really do behave on a high power trip. I do really feel for the vendors and hope in the future when things improve Borough Market will one day revive its beautiful charm again.

One of the best things about London for a foodie
Apr 2020
Been at the Borough food market , is like been at the Good Food Show. There is so much great food here and such a variety of world food. You can drink here as well and can have a great lunch .There is loads of Deli's there is not much food wise that you can't buy here.
It really is a must seeif your visiting London. It can be quiet busy at times, but its well worth it

Wate of money
Feb 2021 • Solo
First i bought Russian honey cake. I was so excited and eager to try it. Beyond words disappointing. Nothing like the honey cake i had in Moscow. You could taste no honey and the cream was almost non existent. The cake layers were too thick and dry . Tasted like cardboard. Then i went for German ricotta cake with cherries at a German counter. The slice was miniscule. The consistency was that of dry cake tasted like flour and no thick creamy delight as a cheesecake should be. I really wanted to go back and ask for a refund for both. Borough market ... so disappointing and a complete waste of money.

Market Time
Mar 2020 • Friends
Whilst in London it is well worth taking some time out to visit Borough Market in Southwark. The market itself, is one of the largest and oldest food markets in London which dates back to the 12th Century. A brilliant gastronomic experience for foodies with the market having a wide array of British and International food, drinks and an array of much more on offer too. It can take you on an international adventure of the senses. From trying street foods, buying fresh fruits and vegetables, exotic meats, herbs and spices..... a free sample here and there too is great. Try before you buy. It is a fantastic way to spend a few hours of your time. Well worth a visit! 🍇🍈🍉🍊🍋🍋🍍🍍🥭🫒🥥🍆🥔🥕🧄🍖🍗🥩🥓🧀🧈🥚🍩🍪🎂🍽🍴🥤🧋🥂
