One of the finest shops in London to buy hats. Many choices from where to choose and a well range of prices. All, absolutely wonderful.

We searched online for "flat caps" in London. We "ubered" to it and saw plenty of public transport opportunities when we got there. The shopping area was awesome, almost like stepping back in time. Many of the shops had doorman who welcomed you inside with a smile. The window displays were getting festive for the holidays. Bates Hats on Jermyn Street was a true secret gift.... we were greeted by friendly staff and instantly taken care of. My hubby had some idea of what he was looking for and the salesman helped him find his perfect "look" He measured his big ol' noggin to find the perfect fit. It was a fun day out and all the stores around the "Old Bond Street" area were amazing to pass the time window shopping.…

Wow, what fantastic service. Really friendly, professional and helpful. I saw Tom today and he cleaned, reshaped and steamed my Dads trilby that I discovered in his wardrobe when clearing it last week. He passed away in 1983. Tom worked on it to fit my head perfectly. I was given a hat case too to protect it and to my astonishment I wasn’t charged a penny for this amazing service. Ignore any negative feedback on here from anyone else. Go to Bates and you’ll get a fantastic service. Thank you Tom and thank you Bates! …

The bates people really know hats . They know materials and how they are worn and cared for. They also maintain the hat if you pass by with a bit of a steam and brush. I would highly reccomend them !

I entered the shop and a sales assistant immediately asked me how he could help. I told him that I would like to buy a cap and he ushered me to the sales room in the back. The sales assistant asked me which cap I would like and I described the cap I have seen in the shop window. Unfortunately, he was not very interested in my description and just put two caps on counter. Apparently, he was not willing to hand the cap over to me. I tried both caps and had to step a little bit to the side in order to see the cap in a mirror. The sales assistant stayed behind and did not say anything. The second cap (GBP 90) was nice and my wife told me that I looked great. Therefore, I returned to sales assistant and asked him whether other colors were available. He did not answer my question but just put a stack of caps on the counter and stepped back. I waited a short time in order to give him the opportunity to say something and to show me the different colors, however, he remained silent. Therefore, I put the cap I liked back on the stack, thanked him and left the shop. I have never received so little attention from a sales assistant. Fortunately, my wife and I then went to Beretta just around the corner where I bought a wonderful cap (GBP 85) and got a wonderful service which caused us to do buy two nice jackets and trousers. However, I will never enter Bates Hats again.…
