I have been visiting the Mall over many years and have found it to always have a selection of beautiful paintings to suit all tastes. The gallery is light and airy with room to see every painting clearly. It is in a super position to visit - under Admiralty Arch and on the Mall itself. There is a small coffee... More

Very central gallery at the bottom of The Mall within easy walking distance of Trafalgar Square. A good follow-up to anyone visiting The National Gallery. Here they hold several annual exhibitions. One I make a point of visiting is The Annual Watercolour Exhibition. The standard is high and includes some well-known known artists, plus a few royal names like Sarah... More

Another gallery we always check before visiting London - there always seems to be something of interest. This wonderful little space has an ever changing programme with paintings generally in the majority but many of the exhibitions we have attended have been complimented with items of sculpture. A nominal entrance fee is charged with represents very good value. The site... More

I go to nearly every exhibition at the Mall Galleries and it always pits on a good show. The galleries have recently been modernised and are now better than ever. You can always get a decent coffee or a snack served by a very polite lady with red hair. I would recommend a visit if you are interested in all... More

The gallery is just a few minutes walk from Trafalgar Square down the Mall. There are lots of exhibitions changing regularly throughout the year, covering a range of artistic styles. This weekend there was the Royal Society of Miniatures exhibition, Hamish Mackie wildlife sculptures, and about to start the Royal Society of Marine artists. There is a small café on... More

This Art Gallery is such an inspiring place. There is always a quick turnover of different varieties of art on view, eg scultpture, miniatures, watercolour, pastel, oils and acrylics. Often artists are there to give demonstrations and tips for producing your own pictures. Books, magazines and gifts are available to buy plus a small cafe area to sit and enjoy... More

Visited the Sunday Times Watercolour Competition results. As is normal with me, I do not often find "works of art" that are to my liking. The same applied to my visit today, although I did learn a lot about the modern day method of mounting and display (useful as I cut and mount a lot of works for a local... More

Located on the Mall just by Trafalgar Square the Mall Galleries are an excellent place to visit. Most exhibitions are free and feature differing groups from Marine Artists to African sculpture - most of which are selling items. The Gallery always has something of interest and its got a great coffee shop to hang out and sit. Not stuffy, very... More

First visit to the gallery to see the amazing British Wildlife photo exhibition. Well displayed photos and sculpture in a comfortable spacious setting. Very hot outside but comfortably air-conditioned in the gallery. Will keep an eye out for future exhibitions of interest to me. Decent cup of coffee from the cafe and a small shop on site. Free admission.

Staying in Westminster

Neighbourhood Profile
Westminster
If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a grand scale, Westminster would be a wise place to start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square, and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just up the road as well. As captivating as the architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are highlights of the area too. St James's Park (arguably London's loveliest), the expansive Green Park, and pedestrian friendly tree lined paths along the river showcase the exquisite manicure provided by English gardeners. Just beyond the landmarks and the gorgeous outdoor spaces, quiet residential squares and age old local pubs offer a more subdued take on this global seat of power in the heart of London.
