Finally got talked into going up the Shard because I thought why spend all that money to look over London when I have google maps. Anyway it was our friends birthday so we decided to do the Champagne experience to boot. Now I am converted I would do this again, the staff are very professional, helpful and polite. The views... It's expensive to go up if you're travelling on a budget, and the views are really only marginally better than the Eye (I did both on the same day). Also depends on the weather; better weather, better views, which is a luck of the draw kind of deal with London weather. The second deck is exposed; I don't recommend going... More

Visited with my boyfriend and also my friend who was hosting us for the weekend. Initially we had planned to go up in order to view sunset,we had booked my friend a ticket for 3pm however we had a voucher for 'anytime' that I'd received for my birthday. Unfortunately when we arrived at 3pm they were fully booked so couldn't... More

Highly recommend this attraction for great panoramic view of London. Well managed inside the venue, we did experience a little trouble with the printed voucher as did everyone else. Advice is take your printed voucher to the ticket office as it has to be converted into actual tickets. Ours didnt mention this and there were many other people in the... More

I do have to say tickets for The Shard are a bit pricey (£25.95 if you buy them in advance). The view from this skyscraper is worth the money though. I especially liked visiting the open air Skydeck on Level 72. It was nice having the feeling of being outside and at the same time enjoying the breathtaking view of... More

As soon as you enter the building you are greeted by staff who direct you to the ticket office, you are then taken through security and the round to the lift. You are then told that the lift goes to the 33rd floor and then you have to get out and take another lift to the 69th floor. The lift... More

Four of us girlies went up the Shard and had a brilliant time. Champagne to boot. It was a cold but sunny clear day which helped considerably with the view. We were able to take plenty of photos and selfies! People on tap to point out landmarks too. Souvenir shop had a good variety of items although a little pricey.

Staying in Southwark

Neighbourhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
