The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Southbank
Big time attractions such as the London Eye and a thriving theatre scene (compliments of the National Theatre and the Young Vic) are but a few of the reasons that Southbank is such a collectively cherished part of town. With plenty of family friendly activities and venues lined up along a pedestrianized river bank between Westminster Bridge and Waterloo Bridge, visitors can always expect a casual and festive atmosphere. On top of all the fun stuff to do at Southbank is the opportunity to simply sit back and admire photo-op views of iconic landmarks like Parliament and St Paul's Cathedral, just on across the Thames.
How to get there
  • Waterloo • 5 min walk
  • Embankment • 10 min walk

Came to London for a relaxing spa weekend with a friend. It was anything but a relaxing spa experience. The pool was overrun with kids splashing, screaming and jumping in, only 4 beds available by the pool all taken up by towels and not being used by anyone. There are many spa hotels in London I’d recommend choosing any but this one.

Lovely time at the spa!

Both of us enjoyed two treatments and access to the spa for three hours in addition to this. Tanya our therapist was so lovely and welcoming. We both had the body scrub and a back massage and left feeling so relaxed (and smooth). Would definitely recommend. Lovely sauna and small pool. Only issue we had was with the lockers.

Loved this hotel, everyone was very professional and friendly. It's a busy hotel and a great location.
The Spa is beautiful, had a massage from Charlene and she was amazing.
Wish I had more time here, I would definitely stay here again.
Keep up the good work.

Very relaxing

The facial I received at the spa was excellent and by far the highlight of the day.
Really enjoyed the tea and cake afterwards with fantastic views of central London.

Great message by Daiva

Daiva was phenomenal and focused on targeting my aches in my back and left shoulder. Exceeded expectations to say the least! Booked my follow up visit. I highly recommend her.

The staff were lovely and we enjoyed the day, however children screaming in the pool is not what we expected. Access to the lounge is restricted however the treatments were good. The lounge was relaxing. We enjoyed the day but there are much better spas in London which we prefer to visit.

A bit disappointing

Bought a Virgin voucher for my boyfriend for his birthday, he decided to use it for a couple's experience at the Mandara spa.

The facilities are clean and well designed, albeit the gym could be more equipped. The swimming pool is of a decent size for London and the blue lightning makes it a really relaxing place... until a bunch of screaming children join the party. The spa should probably caveat that this is the Park Plaza's hotel swimming pool and that customers staying at the hotel bring their kids to the pool. From 16:00 in the afternoon you can expect hords of screaming children and if you are lucky enough to have secured a lounger, I bet you will get splashed aplenty by the kids playing in the pool. Not exactly very relaxing.

My partner and I booked a couple's massage and scrub, but as there was only one employee to take care of both the reception and the treatments, I had to wait for an hour in the waiting area to get my treatment while he was getting his. Not ideal. The massage and scrub were satisfactory although.

In short: I would not recommend this as a "special spa day"; the experience is probably more worth it if you are staying at the hotel and do not have to travel to the Park Plaza specifically for the spa.

Spa day
I have just returned from the most fabulous day at the spa. From our first greeting to leaving service was great and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We purchased a spa day voucher which included 4 treatments and spa access. Treatments were amazing. After the spa we went to the executive lounge and had drinks and canapés and left slightly tipsy! We had a wonderfully day and will definitely return and perhaps stay overnight

Came here as a surprise birthday present. What a lovely day. The staff were so friendly and attentive. We had the pool to ourselves. Then onto a massage and facial and my therapist was wonderful. After that we were escorted to the upstairs for afternoon tea. I cannot recommend this place enough. I wafted out of there with all my troubles and stresses pummelled away. I will definitely be going back. What I loved about the afternoon tea was that it was buffet style so if you didnt want to eat lots of cake you didnt have to. You just help yourself to whatever you wanted.
