If you come to The City you must at least visit the outside of this building which represents the heart of The City to me. Compare the architecture to the Bank of England and Royal Exchange facing it. Also visit St Stephen's church behind it. Tours of the inside are weekly as far as I know and must be booked.

I took part in a group visit on a Tuesday which is the only day it is open to the public. We gathered in the foyer of this great house at 2pm the starting time of the tour. We had an excellent and knowledgable guide with a great sense of humour which added to the enjoyment of the visit. We... More

Impressive looking building near St. Paul's Cathedral. This is impressive in a city with a lot of grand architecture. The guided tours are only on Tuesdays 7 BP.

This is the living and working space for the Lord Mayor of London. The inside official rooms are stunning and well worth a visit. Tours begin at 2.00 from Walbroke in the City of London, and take 1 hour.

Fit for royalty! Attended a black tie event, and was left bedazzled! Ambience was just out of this world! England is rich in culture, and none was left to imagination.. The food was superb too! Would definitely accept another invite! Lol!

Brilliant tour with a cheeky chappie house manager. He kept the tour light and amusing with lots of bite size information on the rooms. Beautifully decorated with any number of chandeliers and some amazing art work! That was great..thank you!

I would recommend a visit to the Mansion House to tourists who have already seen the major London sights. Tube: Mansion House. This is the residence and work space of the Lord Mayor of the City of London. It is open only on Tuesdays at 2 pm and can only be visited on the guided tour. I was most impressed... More

Definitely worth going for the tour as the Mansion House has been an integral part of the London scene for several centuries. There is something to interest everyone here. Although you may have seen the Chancellor's Mansion House speech on TV it is great to be able to stand in the room and appreciate its beauty and significance. Very photogenic... More

Neighbourhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
