I always stay in Cartwright Gardens, and this is a great pub one block away. Great service, good prices, good beer and liquor selection. They make a fish and chips with a gluten free coating that I was frankly leary of trying. What a surprise...More

We travel to and through London on a regular basis, but no visit is complete without a visit to the Lord Russell Pub on Marchmont. Other pubs in the area, while good, have upscale themselves, and all look much the same. The Lord Russell Pub...More

Dinner tonight at Lord John Russell. Decided on the Sunday Roast Beef with all the trimmings: Yorkshire pudding baked to perfection, creamy mash, crisp roast potatoes, pumpkin mash, sweet carrots, beans and a wicked horseradish sauce with a divine brown gravy. We ordered a plate...More

Worth searching out, the beer is varied and well kept, it can be busy inside but if the weather is not too cold there is outside seating

Not many real pubs left these days. By which I mean hostelries with tradition and community. This is one. Staff are pleasant and efficient and the food and wine were excellent.

Went in at 10.55 and they said last orders will be at 11 so we could any have one drink, which was fine. At 11pm we were then rudely told to get out as they are closing!!! plenty of nice pubs close by, go to...More

My wife and I come to Bloomsbury once or twice a year for a couple of weeks and as our family’s flat does not have a washer or dryer we end up at the Laundromat (Laundrette) across Marchmont street from the Lord John Russell on...More

Oh dear. Such a shame as this is such a lovely English pub. Staff were not enthusiastic or chatty. There was no atmosphere as no tv on or music playing. Lots of food to offer and good selection of drink. Had the chicken roast and...More
