The Italian Cultural Institute is an official Italian Government body promoting Italian language and culture in England and Wales. It is situated at 33 Belgrave Square in a building dating from 1825. It is home to an ambitious series of exhibitions, lectures and concerts. It currently has two exhibitions one of dresses the other of jewellery both based on the theme of white or whiteness. There is also a programme feature and documentary films this month.

Very much enjoyed the free film screening I attended here. It would have been nice to have been able to see more of the building and I would have liked the opportunity to purchase a glass of Italian wine.

Having booked 6 months in advance for a two week intensive 'Introduction to Italian' class, we were pleased to receive confirmation two weeks in advance that the course would proceed. However, the class was subsequently cancelled at 4.30pm on the Friday before it was due to commence on the following Monday. There were no apologies, and the explanation made no sense (apparently they no longer had sufficient students despite having already confirmed 2 weeks' prior). To make matters worse they then tried to upsell us to 1:1 lessons at a market-inflated price. It is incredibly disappointing that an Institute run by the Italian state operates with such poor customer service. Apparently this is not the first time that such a thing has happened (see previous review). They clearly have no respect for the time of their customers. There are many other respectable language school out there in London who run in a customer-oriented way. I would strongly suggest to avoid the Italian Institute.

i spent a day here volunteering for a charity. The building is beautiful, the library outstanding and the staff absolutely charming. I am sure that everyone would be made to feel welcome here.

Beautiful building with an AMAZING library. They organise a lot of events, movie screening etc. Plus they hold Italian lessons, which are absolutely amazing. Teacher Feruccio absolutely rocks!
