Neighbourhood: City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.

An incredible place, so beautiful, when I went no one was there so it was very serene. A total hidden haven

The remains of a church that was bombed and largely destroyed in the Second World War. Now the shell of the photogenic ruins is a public garden. A popular spot for photogenic posing.

Atmospheric ruins of a Wren church having a two fold purpose: a recreational space where it is in short supply right within the City of London & of course a reminder of the sometimes indiscriminate destruction of war. Very photogenic.

A peaceful oasis in an otherwise bustling part of the city. St Dunstan’s provides a beautiful backdrop to sit and take a breather, away from the hustle and bustle. So popular and unusual is the place, there was a professional wedding photo shoot taking place on our visit and several amateur instagrammers, who sadly, saw fit to climb all over these gorgeous ruins for click bait. I dread to think what damage this will do over time. Anyhow, I recommend popping in if you’re in the area, if only to tell the Instagram crew to keep their toes off this delicate structure.

Has a peaceful and beautiful atmosphere, we enjoyed a few minutes here taking photos and looking up the history and story behind such a unique place. It certainly holds it own against all the impressive new builds that surround it,

Beautiful area, very peaceful, a great escape from a bustling city. We'll maintained gardens, a great find, well worth a visit if you are in the area, a short walk from the sky gardens & much preferred it here than the sky gardens

Beautiful tranquil garden with ornate ‘ruins’. Great for photos and sitting with some lunch for a matter. Borders planted out attractively and well maintained. Worth a visit. A bit of a hidden gem surrounded by the busyness of London.

A peaceful oasis in the heart of hectic London and a ideal place to visit after the Skygarden. Glad we made the effort!

Came here yesterday after a recce last month to pop the question to my other half. She absolutely loved it. So quaint and the perfect setting. Big thanks to the two lovely young girls who took pictures for us to capture our moment. Lovely place and we now have a reason to keep returning.

Exactly what we expected, it was a beautiful little spot hidden away, a ten minute walk from tower bridge. Perfect place for a picnic with the family, or a quiet romantic moment.
