- Niina73174 contributionsAmazing, fun, exhilarating!Amazing experience! Was arranged for my special birthday along with our teens, and honestly had so much fun. The staff were so informative, encouraging, supportive that it made the whole experience even better. There was a young man who was doing his first shift there and he was so full of information about the site and told us about his first abseil experience there- lovely to see such a happy work team. Thank you so so much!Visited April 2023Travelled with familyWritten 2 April 2023
- richard s2 contributionsFabulous safe experienceAge UK Wandsworth held a charity event - to abseil down the ArcelorMittal Orbit. It was a fabulous experience. I’m aged 68, but in the hands of Ishmael - aka Batman - I knew I was unsafe hands. Friendly but professional which is good when you persuade yourself to lean out into midair 262 feet up. Well done and thank you.Visited September 2023Travelled on businessWritten 3 September 2023

The view is amazing if you are lucky enough to go on a clear day. The slide is good however if it is busy it is not worth the long wait.

I have to say what a very disappointing experience we’ve encountered with the attraction. Having booked a three day, two night trip in central London we decided to add an extra day/night to attend the attraction. 5 days before our planned visit I received a blank email from the Visitor Experience Manager which I took as a reminder about our booking. After setting off on a 4 hour drive to London I received another email which suggested that there was an issue with our booking. On arrival at the hotel that we had purposely booked because we was visiting that attraction, I had chance to read said email. After replying to the email we was informed that the attraction was going to be closed and we wouldn’t be able to attend. No explanation was given as to the reason behind the decision to close the attraction. All that was offered was an opportunity to rebook another date, which was never going to be an option due to living in Yorkshire. So a refund was the only option. So bearing in mind we encountered additional costs to our trip so we could attend the attraction, I thought asking for some form of compensation wasn’t expecting too much. The response I received was a point blank no, not even an offer of a discount on any possible future tickets. To be informed of the closure two hours before our booking which we booked 4 months in advance is totally unacceptable. If anyone decides to book this attraction take note of my experience and book at the risk of this happening again.

I have a Buyagift voucher. Unfortunately between booking the trip to London and arriving the hours had changed. Not a problem but I cannot find out if they are open in January which is when the voucher ends. I have not had any response from the messages I have left on the Arcelormittal voicemail, not to the emails sent to Customer Services at Buyagift. One thing I have discovered from this experience is not to buy vouchers - it's better to just pay when you want to go.

Booked to go with my daughter over a month ago. Less than 24 hrs before get an email to say they are now gonna be closed and only offering a re-booking. We don’t live in the UK we need a refund. Sad children and waste of money! Would not bother booking.

We were informed by email that the slide was closed as they were testing it , our time slot was 11.00 , we were told we could go up to the viewing deck and if the slide wasnt up and running that day we could rebook, we decided we would go and have lunch during which we recieved another email letting us know it was up and running. We returned was escorted to the lift met at the top , joined a very short queue donned safety gear and took our turn on the slide , I throughly enjoyed it ! Staff were great at every level.

Too expensive for what it is. It cost £19 per kid to go down the slide and £15 for an adult to go up and look out at the view without using the slide
The staff at the desk in the entrance hall are rather strange and slow. Very weird atmosphere, anyway was fun but the slide speed is a bit of an anti-climax

We had this booked for today and our kids were excited. When we got there the lady who booked us in was nice and gave us detailed instructions. We went up the lift to the viewing platform for great views across London. Then we went down to the slide, put our safety gear on and waited out turn. This is where is started going wrong as I went down first, whilst the first drop was fast after that it was quite slow and a bit of an anti climax. My 8 year old was next, and as he couldn't pull himself forward and my partner wasn't allowed to give him a push, he started crying and wanted to come off. There was a lack of compassion from the staff and if they just allowed him to be pushed a little as he was struggling everything would have been fine. This then stopped my older son wanting to go on. So we wasted our money essentially which we weren't happy about. The staff have to be a little more accommodating for younger guests as it spoilt the day for us, after travelling down from Manchester. We wouldn't be recommending this to anyone else

We really enjoyed the orbit, booked through red letter day and was really straight forward, staff were really friendly, the experience says to last 1hr- 1hr 30 we probably spent about half an hour up there. Glad we did the slide and being West Ham fans was great to see the stadium from height, only marked it 4 not 5 as I don’t think it warrants the price, we got a discount on red letter days so paid about £24 for two people this is about right wouldn’t want to pay much more then that.

Never actually managed to go! Had vouchers as a Christmas present which cannot be used online and no way to contact them. Phoned about a hundred times, left messages and emailed. No response. Feel totally ripped off with two very disappointed children.

As per the website & internet.
The ArcelorMittal Orbit does not have a visitor car park. Nearby there are two independently operated, chargeable car parks – Stratford multi-storey car park with 588 parking spaces (located off Great Eastern Road, E15 1BB) and Westfield Stratford City car park with 5000 spaces.

Hi, I'd like to update everyone reading this review. Despite a face-saving response from Janie in Customer services here on TripAdvisor, absolutely nothing came of their promised "investigation". I never did manage to redeem my coupons or get a response from ArcelorMittal. Please be warned!

Last week as a result of the weather we received an email to say our booked trip had been cancelled. We were offered a voucher to be used within the year. My wife suggested that I call them to discuss. The customer service person I spoke with was incredibly helpful and said she would call me if there was a possibly we could visit on Saturday. She called me back and we managed to participate as intended. Hopefully you will have similar success.

Hi Janie on the Management Team (or any member of the team). Thanks for the generic response to my review, I look forward to the possibility of hearing from you properly. I sent you two emails directly on 1st July - a full response to one of those would be appreciated. This is your chance to prove to me that your company cares remotely about the customer experience. I'll happily delete my review if you give me reason to. Kind regards, Paul Huntingford

Hello Paul,
Thank you for giving us another opportunity to make this right for you. I've had a look through our inboxes and I wasn't able to find an email from you on 1st July. Would you kindly drop us another quick note with 'Attn:Janie' in the subject line so I can reach out to you personally?
Kind regards,
Janie
Can you wear jeans and boots to go down the slide??

I abseiled the outside rather than taking the more roundabout route but a previous answer from a slide rep implied you can unless the jeans or boots have large metal studs which could damage the ride

I’m due to ride the slide this weekend, the weather looks very warm, are you able to wear shorts/skirt/dress ?
David Greenwood

We are delighted you will be joining us this weekend. You certainly can wear shorts/skirts/dresses. All we ask is that you not wear any sharp shoes or items that could damage our slide mats or more importantly cause harm to yourself on the way down. We look forward to seeing you.
How long is the queue? Average?

It varies. About 20 minutes when I was there. My wife was straight on the occasion she went.

Its like a little pouch that your legs go inside of (came up to just above my knees) and two handles on the side. You are given a helmet and some arm protectors which are surprisingly comfortable! The staff guide you through everything (in terms of how to have your head and shoulders placed) and then you start yourself off.
