Neighbourhood: City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.

- HINA WIslamabad, Pakistan6,566 contributionsThe old and the new! This station was inaugurated in 1874. It replaced the Bishop Gate Station as the terminus of the great Eastern Railway. It was designed by engineers Edward Wilson. Before this station was built a mental hospital used to exist here. This station suffered heavy bombing during the two world wars. It was totally revamped in the 1970s but efforts were made to maintain its historical feel. Four Victorian clock towers can be seen outside the station. A huge concourse of shops, offices and eateries was added. A grand steel and glass walkway was built. You can see several interesting statues in this station.Visited August 2022Travelled with familyWritten 9 July 2023
- Andrew N239 contributionsFantastic station! It’s not often that I go to a train station and feel like I need to write a review for it!!!!!!!!!But this train station was so fantastic I felt like I needed to review it,firstly I thought it was going to be like all underground stations. But this one really stands out on the map,it is served by overground, tfl rail(cross rail,Elizabeth line),metropolitan, circle, central and Hammersmith and city train lines with national rail as well going to Essex.I love this station so much as it was clean and massive and there are plenty of restaurants and takeaways to have a bite before or after a train ride. There are giant chains including Starbucks,McDonald’s and Leon but also some independents too including an Italian restaurant called Eataly which is probably the biggest restaurant I’ve ever seen.It serves up breakfast, lunch and Dinner.I love the lights in there as well. Also there was a WH Smith’s,M&S and a gym as well!!!!!!!Also they have a whole floor just for the toilets as well which came in very handy when entering and exiting the station, the toilets were also very clean as well.I love this station so muchVisited July 2023Travelled with familyWritten 24 July 2023
- HumphmanKessingland, United Kingdom594 contributionsBog standard stationStation itself is ok, need to make sure escalators are working all the time as we were there 3 days in a row and one was not working. Board updates as to platform required are extremely slow so this again needs improving. Decent amount of places to get food prior to setting off.Visited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 26 July 2023
- Abovetheclouds2,442 contributionsOrdinary big station! Watch out for the homeless people. An ordinary big London station with many eateries and a few shops. Big. Located on two levels. Places to sit as well if you are waiting for a train. Connects to Stansted Airport and a number of train lines. Easy connection to the West End. The new Elizabeth Line also stops here so easy to get to Heathrow too. Busy station especially at peak times. The station can feel very cold during the winter months and when it heavily rains, even though the station is sheltered, it can drizzle through and sometimes there are floods! Not the cleanest station. Main issue is the homeless people. Watch out especially at quiet times as they have been known to pickpocket. The famous Spitalfields Market is a short walk away.Visited August 2023Travelled soloWritten 15 August 2023

I had a mobility issue and could not get to the train with stairs and escalator so the cabbie was able to get me through so I could be me with assistance. Malik met me immediately we arrived. So kind and friendly, he carried my bags onto the train. He then called ahead and I was met off the train at Chingford by an equally lovely member of staff. Great help and service, just wanted to say a big thanks!Visited September 2023Travelled soloWritten 8 September 2023

An easy to use station, lots of places to shop or eat while waiting for your train. Toilets could be cleaner but a good station.

The men's toilets at Liverpool Street Station are ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. The minute I descended the stairs I was attacked by an OVERWHELMING STENCH OF URINE & FAECES.
Everywhere I looked was DIRTY. The floor was DIRTY. The work surfaces were DIRTY. Cubicle doors are DISGUSTING - THICK WITH DIRT. Flies buzzing round the toilet bowl. A discarded newspaper left on top of the toilet bowl.
The soap dispenser NOT WORKING. The taps - some working half heartedly, others not working at all, the hand dryers NOT WORKING. I had to leave the toilets with WET HANDS, up the escalators to Bishopsgate Tesco to buy some hand sanitizer and tissues to dry my hands. It's SO insulting to visitors and tourists to this country. You should be ASHAMED of yourselves.
You are not managing this place, you're being dragged along in its wake. TAKE THE SCALES FROM YOUR EYES!

I got stuck in the one lift in this station, as a wheelchair user it was not ideal. The lift also lurched a little, which may alarm some.

Don't know whether it will be open, however you should be safe. Suggest you look at the Network Rail website. Actually, thinking about it there are no doors, so you will be able to get in. Not sure about the cafes
