With my boat out of the water in Dartmouth I was at a loose end this Saturday. So I went into London and walked along the embankment. I realised after 37 years of either living or working in London I had never been on the Wellington. So popped down the gantry up to the door. I managed to see a concierge who released the electronic catch and I walked in to engage in conversation. I was rebuffed and dismissed and could tell the chap was not welcoming despite my attempts to show interest in the ship. I departed the ship rather hacked off. It was gusting a force 7 down the Thames and Wellington rolled and groaned as I left. Oh well.. some you win some you lose...

Walking through London we came across this wonderful ship. The tour was given by Sea Captain, who was wonderfully informative, as were the other guides. The dining hall with its old charts and paintings was impressive. This was a little gem for our first day in London. Loved the staircase.

Great Tower Ward Club dinner in the Livery Hall that used to be the boiler room of HMS Wellington. Food from the Cook and Butler was delicious, great steak and fish risotto. Lovely surroundings afloat on the River Thames.
