At Saltholme, you'll find a world of amazing wildlife thriving right in the middle of the Tees Valley's heavy industry.Surprising, isn't it? But this is a brilliant place for wildlife – and for you! Come and explore the state- of-the-art visitor centre with panoramic views of the reserve and its industrial backdrop. Follow your nose to the café to sample freshly brewed coffee and home-cooked meals, and then stop off in the shop for a bit of retail therapy.Get outdoors with the family to explore the discovery zone and run, jump and clamber through the adventure playground. If you fancy relaxing, seek out a bench in the tranquil wildlife garden or venture to the far reaches of the reserve for some quiet time with nature. However you want to spend your time at Saltholme, you're sure to fall in love with the place and come back time and time again.

While travelling, we called into Saltholme cafe for lunch, where they had lovely fresh fish and chips with tartare sauce and a choice of garden peas, mushy peas or baked beans. Had a window table and watched all the bird life while we ate.

This is a really interesting place to visit with kiddies. Both Adults and children can experience wild life, pond dipping. Great safe environment to let the kids go! We particularly liked the 'muddy puddle' & water play! Very well designed. The walks were interesting too and it was good to see it catered for Disabled visitors! The play area was... More

There is a play area for the children and the café sells delicious food My main attraction is the shop I have never yet come out without a purchase. This time... More

This is a pretty place to come walk and see wildlife. There is an entrance fee which is worth it as it's going to a good cause. There are modern clean toilets but they are only at the beginning of the walk so remember to go before you set off. The bird and animal feeding/viewing station is amazing we visited... More

Nice place to visit for any age group. Lovely cafe on site and staff were friendly and helpful. The reserve itself is low lying with virtually no hills and is easy to navigate around. The main attraction are the streams and lake areas. Not as many water birds on site at the time as I had expected but still good.
