Decided to climb the lighthouse when we found ourselves in Whitby on a stunning day last week. Cost £4 for three of us to climb. Steps are interesting to say the least when you come across someone coming the opposite way! Stunning 360 views from the top of all the coastline, beach and harbour. Lovely chap looking after the entrance.

We worth a the climb for a different prospective of this lovely fishing port. The doorway at the top is a little low, but the views are superb.

The stone light house stands on the north pier at the entrance to Whitby harbour. Around it, embedded in the stone walls are the windlasses and pulleys that were used in former times to haul sailing ships in and out of the harbour. It's worth the climb to the top of the lighthouse to admire the views. The small admission... More

We spent 2 days in Whitby admiring this beautiful old lighthouse. Apart from walking towards the lighthouse, There is another way to view: take a 20 mins boat trip for £3 pp and see the magic of the lighthouse from the sea looking towards Whitby town. Worth the trip. Best time to view it early morning where only few people... More

Situated near the edge of the pier, head to the lighthouse for something a little different to do, I wouldn't recommend this for anyone unsteady on their feet, or with little ones or anyone who suffers from vertigo. But at only £1.50 for adults and £1 for kids it's well worth the step climb up to the top. The views... More

We have visited Whitby several times but never the lighthouse. Its only £1.50 to go in and 80+ steps to climb, so reasonably easy. The view from the top is amazing, both over the town and out to sea. A lovely end to the walk down the pier.
