York Terror Trail, a history tour of the horrors of York. There is a monster, 1900 years old, thousands have died in its name. Like all the best masters of disguise it’s gone by many names: Eboracum, Eoforvic, Jorvic… today we just call it York. It has many weapons: battles, murders, terrible accidents and deliberate neglect. This city has two sides, the one it wants you to see and the one it doesn’t. It hides it down back streets and in the corner of your eye. We shouldn’t want to see it but we do. The terror trail can show it to you…The tour starts 6.45pm every night from York’s most haunted pub the Golden Fleece Inn.Adults: £5Children: £2

Great history lesson, Gemma was a little over the top, threatening to jump on my phone, but gave an bafta winning performance throughout!

This was a really great way to see the sights of York while learning some of the gruesome history and skipping across the road too! Tom was an exuberant and knowledgeable guide who brought the stories to life with some audience participation! Thoroughly recommended!

When you first go to a terror trail, you almost don't know what to expect, other than cringey ghostly stories to frighten us. However, our tour guide Gemma did a wonderful performance! She was informative and full of enthusiasm and wasn't afraid to get us to join along in some activities, to help visualize historic events that took place. Definitely... More

This tour was very informative and fun. The weather was awful however we still managed to have a great time. The guide was brilliant including each and everyone of us. We can't wait to come back and bring our children.

As it was a cold Tuesday night in York there were only three of us on the tour. That didn't deter our tour guide, gemma, who kept us entertained throughout. There were stories to amuse, inform and scare us. For £5 a person and a 90 minute tour it represents great value for money and something we would definitely do... More

My partner and myself happened upon the terror trail sign whilst out exploring. It was a very interesting walk and talk with James, who is very knowledgeable about York's history. Would recommend this walk to everyone visiting and my friends.

Me and my partner did this on 22nd December, and it was one of our highlights of our whole york trip. The guy doing the tour was funny and got everyone involved with the story telling. I wouldn't say this was a ghost telling walk but it was so much better as it was historic stories of York. Would recommend... More
