Worth a visit but expensive. Very interesting history so it's worth tagging on to one of the guides doing their talk, otherwise you miss out on all the key information about the place. Make sure you read the interesting facts sheets too.

Visited this on the offchance as I spotted it. It is quite expensive (tickets valid for a year) for the amount of rooms available. I was disappointed not to be able to take photos. Volunteers in rooms were really good at giving information and explaining about the renovations. I understand that more is going to be provided to see and... More

The house has been beautifully renovated and the room stewards are very knowledgeable. We thought the £7.50 entrance fee was a bit steep considering there weren't many rooms to view.

Definitely it is worth taking the guided tour - so much more detail explaining the home and its history. But the tour is only available on Mon. at 11 AM and 2 PM. Your ticket gives you entry for a whole year and we went back another day to look more closely at furniture pieces and the house without a... More

We really enjoyed our visit to Fairfax House which is very impressive. However the highlight of the visit was speaking to all of the volunteers who are so friendly and knowledgeable.

Every room a delight, redecorated per its original colours and furnished in Georgian style,. Very knowledgeable staff, happy to talk about everything at length.

The two members of staff at front of house were incredibly informative about upcoming exhibitions and what the entry fee and charity was going towards. We especially appreciated that the reception staff noticed my partner was not a natural English speaker and offered any other alternative language guides. The rest of the staff (I assume volunteers) were quite frosty towards... More

Stopped by here on our last day - the house volunteers were very informative (but not overbearing) about the history of the house and the Terry furniture. I was surprised at the size of the house (some of it had been demolished decades ago) and that the house had been converted into a cinema in the 1920s - would never... More

Probably not on many lists to visit but this house is a fine example of the Georgian period and has very knowledgeable staff in each room to give you an extra bit of information that complements the splendour on view. Well worth coming here in my opinion.

This was a very interesting visit largely thanks to the knowledgeable lady who was our guide. The house boasts some magnificent furniture that is of its time.
