For 2 people who aren't big on museums, we both really enjoyed walking around the York Castle Museum for the morning. Would definitely recommend

My daughter loved the new shaping the body exhibition as she wants to be a fashion designer when she is older and found it very informative. Both museums in York are excellent and for anyone with the slightest interest in the 'olden days' an essential. For frequent visitors get the annual ticket - its well worth it/

This is a brilliant museum not at all like the usual museum. The Victorian street is brilliant and the old rooms are Fantastic attention to detail. The other side is the sixties and the old prison. Lots of activities for kids too.

My 4 year old had such fun here. I really enjoyed looking at the exhibits with her and she loved the extra activities such as collage making and handling real Stone Age artefacts. There was a nice baby / toddler area too. Overall I'd really recommend it.

Been here before but many years ago. Lots to see. Particularly enjoyed the recreation of a Victorian street. Also the gallery concerning the First World War was very informative. Had our lunch in the cafe and the home made carrot and coriander soup was very tasty, a large portion and good value.

Run of the Mill Museum with very high prices. Some very interesting parts like mock shops were high quality, but too many low grade displays. Museum can't deicde what it is.

Eclectic mixture of collections - toys, clothes, Victorian town, First World War, sixties, prisons - easily half a day if not longer if you spend time in the shop and cafe.
