Ruins are inspiring. Museum is easy to navigate and lots to see on periods of York. Birds of prey on the lawn--hold a bird for #3 was a treat. Romans everywhere on that weekend.

As the weather looked like rain we decided to check the museum out. A great place to discover York's history with some fantastic fossils and artefacts.

Would be good for a family visit, not really enough breadth or depth to justify £7.50 for adults who regularly visit other museums. Visit was saved from being a disappointment by seeing a copy of William Smith's strata map.

This impressive building houses a number of very varied and interesting exhibitions. From aspects of York’s history to the Jurassic period, the exhibitions currently on display are well worth a visit and at £7.50 for an adult entry, I think it’s very reasonable.

I didn’t previously know about this place, but just noticed it when I was waiting to cross the road. So I thought I’d take a stroll around. It’s a haven of peace from the busy streets full of tourists. There were birds of prey at...More

This is a small museum on the grounds of the park that also houses the ruins of the abbey and old Roman walls. There are some Roman artifacts, mostly from the York area (though not all), some medieval stonework from the abbey ruin and other...More

After waking through the grounds and seeing the posters for the Yorkshire’s Jurassic world we were keen to get inside. After paying £15 I was expecting a lot from this museum and was very disappointed. The Jurassic section was actually very small and the rest...More
