The walls surround most of the city and give great views of the surrounding areas. These weren't build for tourists but to defend the city, some degree of care needs to be taken, especially with children as some drops are quite high! A free attraction and certainly worth a visit!

Walked the walls on a cold but clear dry day, better than I ever anticipated.Almost felt like I was participating in history, only brought back to the earth by lovely views into secluded walled secret gardens.Amazing for free.Head down to Marygate where there is an archer trap door still in situ, awesome

We walked all round the city walls and taking it leisurely it makes an enjoyable day. You can get off regularly and the historical sites are well signed if you want to visit them
