Long Historical walk

Worth the walk, particularly around the Minster side as you get incredible views. It is worth paying for a guide as there is so much history.

A Fantastic sight, a grizzly past, a great walk and some fab views. Google the Friends of York Walls too before you come as they open the Fishergate Postern Tower roughly one weekend a month and that is worth a look. The guides know their stuff.

Lovely views from walls. I've done this walk for the last 60 plus years, and it never fails to impress

Walking the wall around York is a very interesting thing to do. You see remnants of old Roman walls and walk on medieval walls. There is a lot of interpretation along your walk, old city gates, an great views of the city.

A circuit is an essential part of the York experience and the information available continues to increase every time I visit. In the old gates there are a couple of museums and at Walmgate, one of the more remote gatehouses,a very welcome tea rooms.

Walked all round the city walls on a Sunday. It was a bit busy with other walkers, but it was a lovely experience.

Just amazing! We did the entire wall and saw some amazing city views. There are numerous sections with no hand rails which could be very dangerous if you have lively kids. We followed a family with a pushchair which isn't really advisable. Well worth a look.

On a bright and sunny Sunday morning, nothing could have been better than a leisurely stroll along York's Roman Walls. The gardens looked great with the spring flowers and newly cut lawns. Some steep steps to start and end the walk, but well worth it. Finished with a nice cup of coffee near the National Trust Shop.

It was a pleasant warm day when we took to the walls of York, my wife and two sons and I. The trees were in leaf and a light breeze left an indelible impression in my mind. History unrolled before us - from Viking days, Roman Britain to thoughts of the recent past. A perfectly timed ice cream break. Something... More
