Great to walk around the city walls and look down on the city. Great views and really easy to walk along sections of the wall. Even in grey weather the daffodils brighten up the beautiful cityscape. Some railings not in place in spots so may not be great for kids

My girlfriend and I live next to these walls. They're a beautiful example of fine roman architecture at the hight of one of the most significant periods of history across Europe. They run a loop around the city centre and take a few hours to walk around, showing the diversity of the great city of York.

We really loved walking the city walls - a free activity but a really interesting way to see the city. It was not always easy to find the next part of the wall when there were breaks for rivers and roads - signposting not the easiest to follow in places. However we did find them and managed to walk the... More

A wonderful treat to be able to walk around the walls of this charming old city. Great views of the Minster, the little streets. We only walked the station section of the wall but was an enchanting end to a magical day in this city!!

We visited the walls on a sunny good Friday. It was a very pleasant walking experience. Although busy the walls were wide enough to accommodate two people and gives good views of major landmarks from different perspectives.

Lovely walk for a nice day. Nice way to see the City, not brilliant for less physically able as lots of steps. Do not attempt if afraid of heights, we had to help a lady who was literally clinging to the wall on a section which did not have a fence on the inside drop side. Otherwise, lovely

A fantastic way to see the City of York, especially York Minster. There are some amazing gardens to view. The full walk took us around an hour and a half but there is no rush, we took our 3 children aged 11, 8 & 6 and although narrow in places there is a guard rail for the higher sections. Dogs... More

Although it's not great with prams or wheel chairs. We loved walking round it seeing all sites and views from different directions. And plenty of places to eat and drink when needing a stop x

We never tire of walking the city walls of York. We have done the tour quite a few times now and on each occasion you spot something new. There are many get on/get off points around the wall with many and varied pit stop facilities eg cafes or pubs. The major issue is that it is totally free you can... More
