This was my highlight to Wollaton Hall of which this museum is in the out buildings. It was well staffed by volunteers and they were very enthusiastic. The £ 2 entrance fee for my age group is a mere pittance compared to what there is to see . They rely on Donations but deserve to put up the entrance fee.... More

We went to the industrial museum in the grounds of Wollaton Hall this weekend. It was a little gem of a place. For a nominal £2 entry it was a great little find. From the earliest English motorbikes and push bike to carriages over 200 years old. There were even a couple of fantastic ladies showing how lace was made.... More

As a retiree brought up in the city and recently returned, I was fascinated. But more impressive my 5 and 8 year old grandchildren did not want to leave. We will be returning as soon as we can.

The museum is laid out in different areas, each one dedicated to traditional Nottingham industries: transports, textile machinery, mining, telecommunication, pharmaceutics etc. The highlight of the museum is probably the section devoted to motive power. A beam engine in full working order is doubtless the star of the museum: housed in a purpose-built wing with glass walls, this engineering marvel... More

Good evening AlexPesar0 Thank you so much for your wonderful review, we really appreciate it. Also appreciated is your candid view of our lace gallery, I'm afraid yes you are quite correct it is looking rather tired but we are hoping to get some funding to get one of the smaller machines to work. It won't, unfortunately, produce any lace... More

Despite living in Nottingham for 35 years and visiting Wollaton hall several times I had never been here. Me, my wife and and my daughter visited for the Christmas steam event. Very informative displays and old machinery on show and my daughter loved seeing all the old steam machines working. Staff are really friendly and answer any questions you may... More

We were interested in the framework knitting machines having discovered that a relative of my husband worked in this trade in the 17th century. Roger really brought the collection to life explaining not only about the machines but also the life and the working conditions of the workers. Lots of other things to see too. We will be coming back... More

The volunteers are keen to show you around the very interesting exhibitions, varying from Raleigh bicycles to lace making machines and the first grand horse drawn carriages dating from 1699, plus lots more. Roger gave my son a detailed guided tour, as he is interested in engineering. A very pleasant and educational visit, which I highly recommend.

The industrial museum is in the courtyard of the old stable block opposite the coffee shop and is only open at weekends. From the outside you think is is going to be small and not take very long, how wrong would you be. The museum is well laid out, with excellent exhibits ranging from early wooden hand knitting frames to... More
